Australia: Lockyer (Brisbane, capt); Minichiello (Roosters), Bailey (Cronulla), Wing (Roosters), Hegarty (Roosters); Gower (Penrith), Kimmorley (Cronulla); Webcke (Brisbane), Buderus (Newcastle), Kearns (Melbourne), Fitzgibbon (Roosters), Simpson (Newcastle), Ricketson (Roosters). Subs: Civoniceva (Brisbane), Waterhouse (Penrith), Mason (Canterbury), Crocker (Roosters).

All I can say is who would have thought Craig Wing and Phil Bailey would be the Aussie centres for the Ashes opener.

Should be a close game.

And the best winger in the NRL all season didn't make it. "Phil the slug Bailey" in the centres now i wouldn't be at all suprised if we lose. Mason is still in the team  Nice hair, pity he can't play.

By picking Wing in the centres any impact that we had from him coming off the bench is lost. Surely there were better optioons for Anderson then that.

Who is going to play wing or centre if one is injured? Crocker or No Willie?

That side is obviously adapted to try and match what Waite is going to do. I think Anderson is reacting to the GB pack with the likes of Fielden, Morley, Peacock, Farrell  and Sculthorpe :D in the pack. We will also have the Anderson battering ram coming from the bench. He has picked his side to cope with the strong GB pack.

As for the backs I don't know what he's doing. GB will have the edge in the centres if they pick Gleeson and Senior and Heggarty won't scare anyone. Minichiello and Lockyer are class of course and the front row of Webcke and Kearns is formidable.

The key for mine, assuming Waite resists a looseforward-athon is how GB defend. We are absolutely capable of conceding 60 against that Aussie team. If they defend like they have met each other before, then there should be enough points in the GB attack to make a game of it.

It SHOULD be:
1. Radlinski 2. Carney 3. Gleeson 4. Senior 5. Gilmour 6. McGuire 7. Long 8. Fielden 9. Newton  10. Morley 11. Farrell 12. Peacock 13. SCULTHORPE

But knowing Waite it is more likely to be:
1. Radlinski 2. Carney 3. Connolly 4. Senior 5. Hodgson 6. Sculthorpe 7. Deacon 8. Fielden 9. Sinfield 10. Morley 11. Peacock 12. Forshaw 13. Farrell

GB have got to pick the pack I chose, irrespective of who plays at halves. Any more than 2 loose forwards picked and we'll lose. Waite is likely to send us out with 4 in the 17!

GB David Waite has refused to bring Danny McGuire, Martin Gleeson and Andy Lynch into the side, he's a joke.
GB will stick with proven test match losers McDermott, Forshaw & Connolly and therefore will blow any chance they had, also I'm not convinced Farrell & Sculthorpe are playing.

Andy Farrell is for some reason untouchable in British Rugby League. Wigan can never leave him out if he wants to play, and GB are the same.

If he WANTS to walk round the pitch for 80 minutes doing nothing because he's injured then he will, simple as.

Not to sure what to say about that aussie side. I would have thought lewis was a reasonable chance but having said I can't argue to much with heagarty's inclusion. But seriously mason ahead of clinton, now that is a joke. Oh well at least villisanti isn't in there.

That is without doubt the most pathetic looking Australian test team I've ever seen. Even worse than the Super League affected years. The centres are a joke, and they will be exposed. Gower at 5/8 aint a good idea either. Kimmorley- nuff said. The pack is buttersoft and will be pounded into submission by the likes of Morley & Fielden. How many players are picked on reputation. Chris Anderson is a dunce and has no idea what he's doing, this season with the sharks has finally driven him over the edge. The sooner he goes the better. I cant believe they overlook a gun player like Joely Monaghan, and include Bailey...wait a minute yes I can...coach's pet.

lol - a bit harsh. The centres are a joke - and surprised me. Bailey just looks an average player to me. I think the pack is good, Mason apart, thought Joel Clinton should have been there - but that'd be a lot of props. Just don't see what Mason offers.

Monaghan a gun? LMFAO. With Girdler out he's got huge problems. I thought Sing might play there. Devere is ordinary, Hegarty runs sideways too often... BIG problem!

What a joke of a team

Anderson obviously has more than ticker problems - he fell right out of the tree - head first.

I never thought I would see the day I would barrack for the Poms

I would rather see Clinton in ahead of Mason or Villasanti.
The centres concern me. Wing should be ok, and Bailey did play a season there...not very well, but he did play a season there.
The pack looks ok without being spectacular. Needs a couple of genuine damaging forwards, Clinton would be an example or Webcke when in form.
Gower and Kimmorley will be well tested.

Phil Bailey in the centres?????????????? and Wing....what are Lewis and Devere injured? What the hell is Anderson thinking, it's an absolute joke, which is made bigger by Mason being there who did nothing all year, and has done nothing all tour.

Anderson has seriously lost the plot, how they could let someone who is very obviously biased and incompetent coach the national team is beyond me.

If I was Devere or Lewis I would give Anderson a very public f**k you, leave and fly home, this team is a real slap in the face to those two guys.

Bailey played 3 games for NSW, was the sharks top try scorer and he can move into the back row if needed. He is a jnr Kangeroo captain. He has talent. Should he be in the centers? Well his form in the centers made him a huge bloter for NSW a team that Opes has nothing to do with  . Wing in the centers is interesting. I would have gone with Lewis. Devere must have not impressed Opes with his game against NZ. I would have gone Lewis at 3 and Bailey at 4.

Wing at 3 is interesting....His quick and it also means that Gower and Buderus will also get full games. Throw in Kimmorley and Lockyer and geez you can score points from just about any where.

I don't see the point in having Crocker in the team if Bailey is aswell. Bailey can cover more positions than Crocker and if they needed a bloke to play a few possies then maybe they should have moved Bails to the bench.

Didn't Sing have some shockers against france or england a or something? I remember hearing he had some shockers so maybe thats why he isn't there.

Why isn't monaghan a gun player. Because he doesn't play for the saints or parra or bulldogs. Why is a player such as gasnier or Harris rated above monaghan. It's all bullsh*t if you ask me. Francis Meli killed the dogs in the finals but one weak later he was thoroughlly outplyed by Joel yet it hardly gets a mention. He scored over 20 tries this seson, is excellent defensively, great under the high ball and his sense of positional play is beyond his experience yet is hardly ever rated. The same can be said about heaps of raiders players. case in point Steve Simpson over Ian Hindmarsh. Anyway enough of this rant.

Regarding the Aussie team its obvious Anderson has favourites in the team. I hope this is the last series he coaches Australia. IMO with the players available the team should be:

1. Lockyer
2.Minichiello
3.Hegarty
4.De Vere
5.Lewis
6.Gower
7.Kimmorley
8.Webke
9.Buderus
10.Kearns
11.Fitzgibbon
12.Crocker
13.Ricketson

14.Wing
15.Civoniceva
16.Clinton
17.Waterhouse

piss off Baily, Mason and Simpson

Wing had a shocker against France.

I am trying to work out what is going to happen if one of the backs or halves get injured.

Ricketson to center???
Or
Buderus to five eight or half, gower or kimmorly to centre and crocker to hooker. There doesn't seem any back up to the backs.

The forward reserves make me think Anderson is going to try and run the flat attack as he did with melbourne. Hasn't he learnt yet from the cronulla experience.

Backs are decoy's in Ando's world. Why would you need a spare back, when all you are going to do all day is turn the ball inside?

That is the mentality IMO.
