Ones I can think of:

Electric Hippies- Greedy People
The Poor- More Wine, Waiter Please
Dynamic Hypnotics- Soul Kind of Feeling
Red Gum- I was only 19
Things of Stone and Wood- Happy Birthday Helen
Company of Strangers- Motor City
Swoop- Apple Eyes
Chocolate Starfish- You're So Vain

There was also that group that came from the TV show "Popstars". Not the first one but the second one, featured two boys and two girls. Cant think of the bands name, but the song was sh*tt.

Also didnt Dave Faulkner off the Hoodoo Gurus feature in a band a few years ago?

The second popstars band were Scandal'us or something like that. The song seems to have been erased from my memory and I can't say I'm not thankful for that.

As for others:
Cordrazine - Crazy
Mark Seymour - Last Ditch Cabaret
The Cockroaches - She's The One

Well, actually the nationality of Crowded House is a multi-faceted and difficult question to answer:
-Neil Finn was from New Zealand
- Paul Hester and Nick Seymour were both Melbournians.

Oh, and another one hit wonder
I don't think Ian Moss had much solo success outside of "Tucker's Daughter"

The Matchbook album that Tuckers Daughter was on contained a few hits at the time (1989 if IIRC) another being Telephone Booth but the list below reminds me why I still listen to it regularly, great work from Mossy!

  • 1. Tucker's Daughter
  • 2. Telephone Booth
  • 3. Out Of The Fire
  • 4. Mr. Rain
  • 5. Matchbook
  • 6. Such A Beautiful Thing
  • 7. I've Got You
  • 8. Pretty Face
  • 9. Tangletown
  • 10. I Remember You

Thats a great song from Mossy.

Anways a couple of hits from 2002:

One Dollar Short- Is this the part
Crash Palace- Evolution (or revolution)

And one from the 90s:

Max Sharam- Coma

Someone mentioned Ammonia, they would be a one hit wonder if Triple J didnt exist. After that first hit, they had another one called "Youre not the only one", but I think it was only played on JJJ. It was a good song too.

"The Wrights" a couple of years ago count with the cover Evie parts 1,2 and 3, that was also a one off supergroup like Company of Strangers (Daryl Braithwaite, James Reyne)
