That was there only REAL hit though mate.

Real Life launched their first single "Send Me An Angel" in 1983 and reached Number 1 though out Europe, Top 10 onthe ARIA chart locally, as well as Top 20 in the USA not once ( 1983 ), but TWICE ( again in 1989 ) !Their debut album ( “Heart Land” ) went Gold and sprouted 2 more top 20 singles including “Catch Me I'm Falling” which also reached Top 10 in the USA & Europe !

I went to a real life comeback album launch in 1990...

needless to say that was the last we heard of them.

whoever mentioned ''coppertone'' by finiscad....damn great song .
I saw them play to about 30 people when that song was at its peak.
it was sad.

they were great.

Lee Harding (hopefully a one hit wonder) - Wasabi

Yeah didnt Ratcat have another song apart from those two?

Ratcat had a 3rd single called "Baby Baby" from the Blind Love album, only got to about 30.

They do have a fame to claim though.. Ratcat was the first ever Australian band to hold the national #1 single and #1 album at the same time.

No other Aussie act had done it prior.

Better by screaming jets was big
Kinky - hoodoo gurus
some Bryan Adams garbage from the robin hood movie
Barnsie was doing soul deep I think.
Wicked game by Chris Issac

and G n R's use your illusions came out that year.

Die Pretty's doubouy hollow was another local stand out for me.

I was tidying up my iTunes this morning and saw that I catually have a classic Aussie One Hit Wonder:

Cry - The Mavis's (sh*tty grammar is theirs, not mine)

What was the name of the bloke from Ratcat?? Simon Day?? I can still visualise his stripey shirt. I remember seeing him open for Dave Mccormack and the Polaroids at the Hoey a few years back - everyone was requesting "don't Go Now", LOL...

Regurgitator had many hits, but there only REAL big hit was Polyester Girl.

Other Than That, i dont believe they had any other singles inside the top 10, other hits on the fringes were The Song Formely Known as, Fat Cop and Superstraight.

as for one hit (outside the top 1000 songs) wonders:

Bic Runga- Sway (from NZ but close enough)
Treaty- Yothu Yindi

lol regurgitator had 3 albums inside the top 5 and eduardo & rodriguez peaked at 7 on the australia billboard top 50 over the years, yeah polyester girl was the only single to go gold, but i think 4 top 10 albums proves they were a little more than one hit wonders

im talking tracks, not the albums.

if you can find me proof, or any other track that appeared in the top 10 other than polyester girl, i then stand corrected.

look at Guy Sebastien, he only had one hit out of his latest album,Elevator Lov and it was like number 1. note some songs arent given permission to be released but still.

Black Bugs might of been near top 20 as well.

yeah, only polyester girl went gold, but they had a healthy life span on the album charts which indicates they weren't a one hit wonder

i know what you mean, singles wise, they didnt have much success, but they were one of the best alternative bands in recent times that australia has assembled, and probably the most comprised alternative bands to hit the album charts.

obviously people enjoyed a variety of their songs, but maybe their singles got old too quick, i thought polyester girl, was one of their worst tracks imo, it doesnt represent regurgitator, it sounds nothing like them, and it just takes a mickey out of alternative rock music, of course it hit the pop charts, that song was all pop.

Yeah I remember that hit, wasnt a bad song, pretty catchy. They sounded like an alright band.

I think they had another hit "World keeps turning back". They were at the 1996 Paralympics for the Closing Ceremony to promote the 2000 Sydney Games.

They also sang at the 2000 Games.

Wasnt there a female singer in the 80s or early 90s that sang the cover of "Ring My Bell"? I can picture a blonde chick, wearing a black outfit.
