Will the Saturday games be against Australian opposition as well ?

Australian Invitational Schoolboys / girls with a heavy lean to affiliated states representation would be good.

Yes sorry it's meant to be Australian equivalent v PNG equivalent for all 6 fixtures.

It's great to finally see PNG schools get the opportunity to play Australia. Will provide a baseline for where they are at, considering the school RL system in PNG has only been running for a short time.

MEDIA RELEASE
12 September 2023
Prime Minister’s XIII 2023

The Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) is very excited to announce the PM’s XIII annual rugby league fixture between PNG and Australia is back, and will be held in Port Moresby this month.
The last time the PM’s XIII matches were held here in PNG was back in 2018 for both the Men and Women.
CEO of PNGRFL, Stanley Hondina, in making the announcement said the PNGRFL were delighted to see the game back in PNG after 5 years, and fans will be treated to a massive weekend of rugby league come the 23rd and 24th of September.
He said, “For the first time in the history of the PM’s XIII matches, there will be 12 teams playing 6 games over 2 days, something that’s never been done before and we look forward to welcoming all our fans over the two days.”
The PM’s XIII concept is an initiative of both the PNG and Australian governments since 2005 and is aimed at using rugby league to drive social awareness messages. This year will see the introduction of the Australian school boys and girls taking on our Junior Kumuls and Orchids respectively, thanks to the Australian government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the NRL.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows;
Saturday 23rd September 2023
12pm: Defence Women – PNGDF Vs ADF
2pm: PM’s XIII Women
4pm: PM’s XIII Men

Sunday 24th September 2023
12pm: Junior Orchids Vs Australian School Girls
2pm: Junior Kumuls Vs Australian School Boys
4pm: Defence Men – PNGDF Vs ADF

The drawcard matches are on Saturday, while on Sunday, the fans will be treated to the up-and- coming stars of our game going head-to-head, with the Defence Men the final match of the day.

Hence, the ticket prices have been priced accordingly and keeping in mind that the prices are consistent with the 2017 Rugby League World Cup and the 2019 Great Britain Lions Tour to PNG.

While the Corporate Boxes have all been allocated to the Game’s major sponsors and dignitaries, there are still opportunities for individuals and companies to be a part of a weekend of world class rugby league.

The ticket prices are as follows;
Saturday 23rd September 2023 Stands;
Grandstand K120
Western Wings K80
Eastern Stand K50
North & South K30

We previously had Australian School boys or U16's etc.
The will be the first time Junior Kumuls and Junior Orchids will be playing.

But actually they are not playing before the seniors game. The Junior Teams are playing the on the following day.

Junior kumuls should be playing the junior kangaroos and junior kiwis every year.

im sure the junior Fijians could put a competitive team out also.

A little disappointed that the senior men's team only has 1 Digicel Cup player.
Why? They are picking their best players and the best players are not playing in an amateur comp in PNG, they are playing in higher level comps in Aus and Eng.

They aren’t picking their best players though and neither are the Aussies.

this match is a good game to try out uncapped players.

It isn’t the Kumuls though, it is PNG PMXIII and they’ve generally used the game to give the best players in Digicel Cup a platform/reward. If it was a test match Kumuls V Kangaroos I’d agree but it’s PMXIII for both teams not just Australia.

They'll be using it as a warm up for the oceanic bowl series. Taking a look at who they want for that series and getting combinations. Whose to come in that wont be playing in this and isnt still in NRL finals?

The back three for the Junior Kumuls are all well credentialed. Stephenson will be looking to get one up on the NSW picked centres.
