Why? They are picking their best players and the best players are not playing in an amateur comp in PNG, they are playing in higher level comps in Aus and Eng.

Like others have said its not the actual Kumuls Team so selecting 2 or 3 more younger players from the Digicel would have helped in their development and also put them in the window for the Hunters next year.

They'll be using it as a warm up for the oceanic bowl series. Taking a look at who they want for that series and getting combinations. Whose to come in that wont be playing in this and isnt still in NRL finals?

Yeh that appears the approach they’ve gone with admittedly, which is a shame for Digicel Cup players. Should have been a bit of a balance between the 2 with maybe 4-5 DC players.

Johnston, Alick, Russel off the top of my head but they may not be available.

I think that after Australia picked a very strong Team, the new PNG Coach and the selectors also had to picked a stronger team so as not to get lapped badly on the scoreboard.

But then I'm not sure why Johnston and Russell are missing.

Shouldn’t be about the score or the result as Australia could field 3-4 sides considered to be strong.

we all know what Johnston and Russell can do in a kumul jersey and at international level.

Would be the first time the PMXIII game in PNG has been broadcasted back into Australia.
