Australian Idol Predictions

I’d like to see everybodys opinions on my Australian Idol questions. I’d like you to state reasons why you have this opinion.

1. Who SHOULD win Australian Idol?
2. Who WILL win Australian Idol?
3. Who will be the losing grand finalist?
4. Rate the other contestants.

1. Courtney : Great voice, which can sing a wide range of material. His voice is also unique, not a carbon copy voice like other singers inside/outside of the Idol world. His personality is fantastic and would be a great ambassador for this country. Most Australians will warm to this guy (if they have’nt already).

2. Courtney : I honestly believe Courtney will win this competition. The raging favourite at the moment is Anthony. The reason being, most of the voting public are young girls/ladies. Anthony will have the most appeal to that group, by a long way. But, towards the last two shows of the competition, the voting dynamics will change.
In the early stages of the show, only young girls will be voting for contestants, hence Anthony will breeze through the early rounds. However, by the time that there will be three or two contestants left, the voting public will increase dramatically. People who don’t normally vote during the show will gain interest and put their vote in. The only time I’ve ever phoned a vote in was for Guy in the final round. Most voters will do the same thing I’ve done. Most of these people who vote in the last two rounds will be outside the teen girl age bracket. Judging by this, more older people will be in Courtney’s corner than Anthony’s.
This will be due to a number of factors.
(a) His immense talent.
(b) The Oprah factor (being fat can make the public love you).
(c) “Tall Poppy Syndrome”. Lots of guys don’t want to see a pretty boy beat an average looking guy in anything. That is a cold, hard fact.
(d) Great personality.

3. Anthony : The teen factor will drive him all the way to the final two. People are quick to dismiss him as a 2D cutout. I think people should wipe out their jealousy and recognize that the guy has great talent. The guy has a wide vocal range and has good presence. I will be shocked out of my mind if he did’nt at least make the final 3. He will fall short at the final hurdle though.

CONTESTANT RATING

Chanel : The only contestant left which I hate. If any other contestant wins Idol, I’ll be happy for them personally. I hate her style, her look, her personality etc. Most of all, I hate her attention-seeking antics. She ALWAYS tries to grab the spotlight in front of the other contestants. She should wait for her turn to speak, not try to steal extra airtime. Keep an eye out for her attention-seeking comments in future shows.
Ricki-Lee use to do the exact same thing. One prima donna gone, one to go.

Hayley : Lovely lady with great looks and personality. Mark Holden is spot-on about his assessments of her. She has great drive and determination, however she is limited in terms of vocal ability, musical creativity and career direction. I hope she does well with her career and kicks on from Idol.

Casey : What a voice!!! I can’t understand why she gets so knocked around in this forum. If she had Hayley’s appearance, she be a hot favourite to take out Idol. Unfortunately, she won’t win, because of her appearance and shy demeanour. I hope she really kicks on too.

1. Chanel - she's the most talented singer out of the lot of them. A gifted performer, wonderful character, beautiful woman. She has buckley's chance of winning, but she'll land a record contract anyway. My tip: fourth.

2. Anthony - the demographics will change.. but not nearly enough. Where all teeny boppers were once divided, they'll be a united front, crushing anyone who comes between Anthony and victory.

3. Courtney - He's talented and a likeable personality.

4. Hayley - her voice does nothing but bore me. Also offeres nothing when she's on stage, and a trafic personality. I don't even find her that attractive. She should've been gone long ago. My tip: fifth.

Casey - A great voice - sometimes - and an interesting look. She'll probably come third.

1. Chanel/Courtney : the only two that come across as real individuals AND seem to have a real knowledge and appreciation of musical history, both write their own music.

2. Anthony - the teenybopper factor will see through in the end.

3. Courtney : when ricky-lee left the top two became set in stone

CONTESTANT RATING

Chanel : Love her! I don't like many female singers to be honest, I prefer male voices but hers I love...besides she's a pj harvey fan which reeks of good taste ;-\0

Hayley : will be the next to go - seems like a nice girl but way behind the others in ability

Casey : I like casey a lot - she can't win but has an amazing voice, give her a few years and she'll go places.

Anthony - he can sing...but makes my skin crawl...just a cardboard cut out teen idol, I think I'll be hearing his voice this time next year as much as I have to here guys

Courts - all class, he'll be the runner-up and, relieved of the pressure that comes to the winner, he will probably release a first class album

1. probably courtney, i like his voice and the way he handles himself, he chooses songs that he likes, he knew who the beatles were and is always trying. (to be perfectly honest i cant explain y)
2. anthony will win. teeny boppers with their mobiles will get him through. he is a good singer but

chanel - those clothes the other night? and the mickey mouse hair? delivered one really good performance (pop night i think it was) dissapointing every other time. knowledge of beatles gives her some points but. NO CHANCE
hayley - good looking, some singing talent but bland. my tip to be voted out tonight NO CHANCE
casey - slightly biased here, my girlfriends family apparently knows her. good singer, slightly diffferent style - punk/goth? probably a bit young at this stage. if she does get a contract hope she isnt forced into a certain genre by the record company. could come close to taking it out

I think the grand final will be between Anthony and Courtney, even though it would be interesting if one of the girls made it to the final. It could be a 'battle of the sexes' to see who wins Australian Idol.

1. It would be great for Courtney to win, the big average looking guy with a great voice, suited to old 60's and 70's songs. Anthony is a great singer but still a little 'too plastic' for my liking.

2. Anthony will probably win. I wouldn't begrudge him the win, and sure he appeals to the teeny boppers but you can't deny the guy can sing

4. I like Hayley alot because she seems like a very nice person and she's pretty too. Unfortunately I think her vocal talents are too limited and she hasn't connected enough with the public as a top class performer. I hope she kicks and makes a career.

Chanel has been a little disappointing too be honest. I quite like her retro style although last night she was just a little too wierd with that hair and that outfit. Speaking as a male, I think she's kind of cute in a way with her wierdness but her performances don't warrant going much further.

Casey has performed above my expectations. I can't see her winning but based on her song choices which have suited her style and the fact she's got 3 'touchdowns' she's obviously done very well. Could finish 3rd

Initially -- and I mean way back, before this competition got underway -- I had predicted a girl to win this competition.

After tonights results, it's now inconceivable!

Anthony WILL win this competition. :roll:

Haley is last years shannon - not as talented as most of the others (although I believe she is weaker than shannon was) but comes across as the one everyone loves, she'll make the finals ahead of the more deserving courtney and casey.

i've been saying that for ages but for different reasons

courtney - people are getting sick of his attitude. and he doesn't "look" like an australian idol so less people are voting for him

casey - also doesn't have the "look" that the australian idol public are voting for

anthony - obviously has this "look" and talent to go with

hayley - seen as the pretty girl with the attitude and personality to go with it

and the more holden gets at hayley, the more people will vote WITH hayley

well i was wrong about last night... not terribly surprised, chanel was crap the other night. its funny, last yr i was impressed with all of the contestants for the majority of the top 12, but this yr there is something missing!!!
anthony will win, but i think casey may be pushing up to take second kinda hope she doesnt, weant her free to do her own music and develop a bit more, not be pigeonholed from such a young age

Should win? I might have said Chanel but she's gone, so probably Casey, her voice is amazing and she has a great instinct for interpreting songs.
Will win? Anthony. Has the looks, the voice and the moves, unfortunately offers NOTHING original, and seems to be on a completely nauseating Backstreet Boys/Brian McKnight trip. I can't stand him, but the punters (particularly the teenage girls) will vote for him.
Losing GF? It's really too close to call to be honest, all three have been in the bottom three recently, and it will come down to individual performances to determine who gets eliminated in the next two weeks.
I would think Hayley should go this week, she's obviously the weakest contestant left, she has a good voice and is pretty but is too shy to really work the crowd on stage and offers nothing unique and memorable. However she wasn't even in the bottom three this week so who knows. I can't rerally split Casey and Courtney, both have equal amounts of appeal but in slightly different ways. Courney has a good voice and decent stage prescence, plus excellent choice in songs but he can be a little one-dimensional. Casey has an amazing voice and ability to interpret songs but is a bit on the shy side and occaisionally bombs if she hasn't "got" a song (ie in Beatles week)
