30 rock is literally only on us Netflix. I switch around a lot for a change and its just weird that its literally only on the USA Netflix.

Breaking bad tends to be pretty consistently across international Netflix so that's a good example of the problems Netflix Australia faces with rights. That said mad men is on there up to season 6.

I imagine STAN picked up exclusive rights to breaking bad. Better caul Saul isn't on US Netflix either. Is on the Sweden version though

I signed up for the free trial for the first month. So far happy with it it'll be interesting to see how much data it chews through

quiet a lot

I had a sick kid watching all day and into the early night (Netflix US), say 9 o'clock, checked on my data usage the next day and it was around 6 gig

they did a commentary on Triple J Hack last night and they all predict that Foxtel and Presto will be the big losers here with no adds and Presto's programming cant even compete with Stana and Presto is the dearest.

Interesting to note that Presto started offering 30 day free trials, only yesterday, when every one else offers it straight up

Fox's greed will see them crash and burn here apparently

Just on the usage, Netflix AU has done a deal with Optus and a few other I believe where streaming will not be metered so this may affect who some people will use as their ISP.

No deal with Telstra at this stage.

Presto started behind the other two so it's safe to say a lot of the quality content got picked up exclusively by them while Presto was dicking around.

Having said that, with Foxtel - assuming they're both competent and not greedy...

Sorry, as I was saying. Foxtel has some damn good content at its disposal that could tip the balance if they can strike a deal with FX/HBO for exclusive Australian rights of GOT and Walking Dead etc

HBO shows won't turn up on Netflix and I have no idea if HBO plan to expand at some point into Australia, but IMO Presto's only long shot is to get the content that Netflix will never get, and get it before Stan has a chance to.

Do you know if that works straight away, or if you have to get it into your plan?

i've got decent amount of gigs on my plan so it won't be too bad i guess.

Don't Foxtel already have this?

They do, but no idea whether they have the rights to stream it through Presto though. As of right now neither are on Presto.

That's what I was getting at. If presto is going to survive it can't afford to dip its toes in the water. It needs to strike big.

The counter to that though is Foxtel won't want to risk losing their main customer base. They need those big draws (outside of live sport of course).

Basically Foxtel is trying to double dip without hurting it's primary (and stagnant) member base.

Currently watching The Hobbit in full HD, unmetered with no dropouts.

Foxtel, your doom is near at hand.

Signed up to Fox this year for sport, it is a rip off but I was tired of dicking around with streams thanks to shit internet and the news of 10 selling off half the F1 races forced my hand.

Netflix content is great but our connection is too shit to have multiple HD streams running, need to live closer to the exchange or have a fiber connection.

This shit sounds like it would destroy people's monthly internet quota if you weren't one of the people getting unmetered, imagine a family full of people streaming shit on this daily, quota would be gone in a few days, this will cause a rise in divorce rates.

I'm only on ADSL2+ and I can have one full HD stream going. Internet begins to struggle with 2 concurrently.

Signed up for the free trial to test it out. Can stream HD content no trouble and all that, although I'm unsure if I'll keep it around.

The movie catalogue is seriously limited, and most of the TV shows I like I've already seen. I'll probably be through the stuff I want to watch before the month is out.

I'll give the Netflix exclusives a go though. If a few of them are good then I'll meep it just for those

Thats my though. Lay reason I watch Foxtel now is for the sport so it's becoming redundant in my house unless the weekends. Over the NRL 360 show (overkill 3 times a week)

Felt good today

Got netflix, downgraded my foxtel from premium to sports only.

Still have access to everything but now saving $60 a month.
