Change Gerrad for Hewat and that sounds about right. Maybe Fava at no.8 if he's fit.

I tend to think that we need a kicker. Mortlock is ok but damn injury-prone. Hewat is probally the best one we have around. Rogers has not kicked all year so he can't be considered for that spot really.

NO 8 is the most contended position with Dave Lyons, Scott Fava and John Roe fighting to win the jersey. I am a big fan of Fava but I think the coach will pick Roe

If on form i'd go....
1. Blake - Maybe TH?
2. Paul
3. Baxter
4. Vickerman
5. Kanaar
6. Elsom
7. Smith
8. Lyons
9. Gregan - Given
10. Larkham
11. Tuquiri
12. Giteau
13. Mortlock
14. Sailor
15. Hewat

16. Frier - Too small to start, but he's having a good season
17. Robinson - Needs more experience.
18. Sharpe - Having a poor season but has experience
19. Fava - Smith cannot be taken off so Waugh IMO becomes expendable.
20. Coordingly - Should be starter
21. Staniforth - As i said on form..
22. Barnes/Norton-Knight - If he sticks with Union, Barnes is the man.

But in saying that Latham, Rogers, Sharpe, Waugh will all get chosen despite being outplayed by their peers at S14.

How can you leave Mat Rogers out of the starting lineup he is the best back next to Larkham in the Union.

I left him out too and my reasons are he is not the best fullback (latham is), not the best fly half (larkam is), is not a centre, and is not worthy of a wing spot really when there is only one vacant one. He will be a great bench player.

If Mortlock is fit enough his goal kicking is right up there with the best. If not then Hewart could well come into the team at wing.

I feel Adam Wallace Harrison is a chance for the 8 if he keeps going well there. He would fix up the lineout problems and hes a good ball runner.

Exactly my reasons for leaving Rogers out...However, Larkham may be unavailable for the first test and in that case id pick Rogers to start

rogers is the man you want to send on with half an hour to go and a game to be won - he would tear most teams (ABs and Boks aside) to shreds.

Whats wrong with him? Apart from his lack of speed hes got the other parts sorted.

I would give Norton Knight a try at 10 and Rogers a try at 10 given we are rotating Gregan out for our 2nd test.

true but Robinson and blake are pretty much rookies and Baxter didn't exactly cover himself in glory last year.

I think when Baxter made that statement about how the wallaby front row was in a position to surpass the all blacks he was still suffering psychological scarring from what Hayman/woodcock and Sheridan did to him
