I'm glad we dodged Houllier to be honest. I think he would have made an excellent technical director, but not manager. At the moment Pekerman and Voeller seem to be the top 2 in the running. I'd prefer Pekerman, but Voeller certainly has a strong pedigree (leading Germany to the 2002 World Cup final) as well.

We've dodged Houllier? When was that announced? It's good, either way. Whilst he has some good qualities, what I've heard of him from both English and French fans has been quite negative.

Pekerman's certainly got the pedigree for it, and his record with youth teams (five youth championships) would be good for a nation such as ours, whose junior depth is perhaps a squandered resource largely. Whilst he made some questionable decisions for Argentina during the Cup - the same could be said for Hiddink in our round of sixteen match against Italy.

But obviously Voller would be the ideal choice of the two. His record with Germany in 1990 and 2002 speaks for itself.

pekerman has been the man with argentine youth sides, but he had a lot to work with. his tactics at the world cup were appalling. Julio Cruz instead of Messi? pleeease. however pekerman would be a lot better then voller or houllier. i say have arnie there for 2 years then bring back guus lol.

Does Pekerman speak english? I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that was a prerequisite for the job.
