Maloney / Pearce had the worst record in the NRL for repeat sets through kicks.

Pearce is an accurate kicker though, manages to hit slaters chest comfortably.

What killed them last night though was the failure to take the two from penalties when on offer.

Pearce and Maloney have tall players to aim at with bombs. They use this tactic when kicking more than most teams and it scores the Roosters more points but leads to fewer turnovers.

Still, I have been saying all along that Pearce isn't a great halfback and to play Origin you need to be great at your position.

It's ok to be a decent support player at club level, but when you're up against the best there is you need to have that something special. Carney has it, A Reynolds has it.

I can handle Maloney being at five eighth but Adam Reynolds should have been the half back. I thought that was obvious to anyone that watches Rugby League.

Sack Pearce and Fulton - I want to sack Daley too as I just don't rate him as a coach, but who do you replace him with?

With Origin I'm generally easier on players who have a bad game - it takes a lot to get there, and a couple of bad performances doesn't quite equate to deserving to be dropped (re Woods). Vice Versa, a good game doesn't necessarily mean you deserve a spot again automatically. McManus was solid, but may not have that x factor that origin demands. Come knocking again in 12 months.

People seem to forget that Snozz was a selector too - he's as liable as Fulton in that regard IMO. If Fulton deserves the boot, they all do - he would only be safe if he was the only coaching option which he may sadly be. For now. You'll never see Tim Grant as long as he's coach either.

But, clear out as much deadwood as you can. I'd stick with Woods for a bit (if he's still playing as well in 12 months) but mix up the selectors and give Pearce the boot. Hoffman is surely unnecessary now too - let Cordner have his jersey.

I'm going with the somewhat unpopular opinion that Dugan wasn't up to standard last night. He's shown he can attack and has finishing ability, but he was badly positioned all night at fullback - his stats were solid, but there were a few issues that don't show up in the numbers, little 1%ers that are needed for these games. He made good return meters, but a fair few kicks he missed completely. The ball doesn't actually seek Slaters bread basket.

I almost feel like going with Gibson's logic: field your best 17. Surely Dugan + Hayne would be better than Dugan/Hayne + McManus/Morris?

Sack the lot.

The combined actions (and inactions) of the NSW squad are such that some now think Mal Meninga is a competent coach.

Probably the selectors.

Certainly Pearce

I think it would be harsh to axe Daley after 1 series

The selectors can only pick from who is available and Daley can only coach the team selected.
