shame to lose bails, but congrats to him. i think his passing and running game will go well alongside ox. orford and ballin (and lyon occasionally) will do most of the kicking so that shouldnt be too much of a problem either.

dureau and royal definitely priority signings now, surely we have enough coin to keep them.

bring on this for the next five years:

6. mullo
7. scotty
9. de gois

14. hilder

Why the hell did we buy this guy? Lyon's doing just as good a job ! What this tells me is that Bells obviously gonski's and Lyon / Matai will be in the centers.

Once again, for the 2nd year straight, our roster deteriorates.

I just don't get it. We had to lose Monaghan, Burns, Hicks, Groome to get just Perry & Le'Strange, now we have to lose Bell, probably Beaver to retire to get Bailey?

Then you look at Brisbane, who lock up Hodges, Wallace and co. yet can splash out on Falou !!!! LoL

You have to be kidding right?
You re-signed
Watmough
Matai
King
Menzies
Stewart Bros
King
Kite

all on upgraded 3 year deals. Not many players sign 3 year deals unless the money is good. How much extra $$ do you think would have went in the re-signings only. I'd say Watmough and Stewart Bros would have been substantial. To be honest I can't see how you could have fit Perry under your cap. He was on what around $300k a year at Knights. I'm sure someone here can confirm.

Parra lost 2 years ago

Morrisson, Vella, Stringer, Petersen, O'Dwyer, Delaney, Morris, Ben Farrar, Graham, McKinnon, Peek, (there were 14 players in total, can't remember all now) and we bought Finch, I. Hindmarsh

Last year we lost - Tahu, PJ Marsh, Cannings, Tsoulos and bought Gualavo

We needed to do this to upgrade contracts of Hayne and Inu.
I for the life of me can't understand how Manly can upgrade all their players and fight off other clubs for Cuthberson, forgot him, he would have got a substantial rise, and also sign other players

Bailey is a quality 5/8, he only lacks a kicking game that Mullen has covered.

The reason we had to let him go is because we have a better 5/8 at the club..... look for him next week, he wears #7.

Its sad to lose a player like this who does all the hard yards and has made a great fist of every opportunity he got.... we will miss his defence in the 6, and his finishing close to the line.

(EDIT: Spelling mistake..... damn cat sitting on the keyboard)

It takes a Big man to admit a mistake.....

Our future 6 actually wore the 6 tonight.

mullen is streets ahead of bailey - and has another 5 years on his side. there is absolutely no doubt about that whatsoever. mullen *MUST* be our long term 6. end. of. story.

are you KIDDING me jono?

what the **** football games have you and What's Doing been watching? mullen was absolutely fantastic tonight... and... if memory serves me correctly.. one scott dureau played halfback.

mullens issues aren't with the man inside him.. they're with the man inside his head. he seems to have finally dealt with his mental demons from last year and is hitting some great form now. it's a shame the rest of the team is going backwards.

I thought Mullen was solid tonight, but it's much clearer to me that he plays a lot better when he runs the show like the past few weeks.

Tonight he didnt offer us much with his kicking game, it was very poor for most part. Only good things he done that I remember were chase Rovelli and the pass to Doogs.

there was only 1 kick of mullens from tonight that i remember that didn't find the grass. his long kicking game has improved out of sight over the past couple of weeks. in fact a lot of his kicks sat up perfectly in the in-goal tonight, i was most pleased. once again, i don't belive it is ability or the players around him that are the problem with mullen - i strongly believe it's all in his head. he was never the same after origin 1 last year.

scottys kicking game was well below average for him though.

I'd call it half-hooker...dunno where Dureau was playing for half the match! But yes, Mullo has looked pretty good outside him this year.

Yeh Dureau was majorly dissapointing.

I'm sure he can bounce back though, this was his first game back at halfback in over a month.

I just hope they can combine a bit better though, atm it looks like 1 is doing something over the other, havnt seen a game yet where both have set up atleast 2 tries each or whatever.

It could even be put down to Gidley not being there, he is usually there on the last play telling them to put in the grubber and what not, Wes was non existent when it came to support play tonight.

dureau has ONE disappointing game and everyone is calling for his head. that'll do me. i must have stumbled into the parramatta forum. this is how they treat their halfbacks too.

Our halves weren't great, but that was the most lethargic performance all year by us. No urgency whatsoever, no one was chasing offensive kicks like we usually do, and there was no support play it seemed. I think that is where we missed Gidley, but for **** sake someone else in the team has to learn how to do it.

There was no kick chase. Average kicks are made into good kicks with chase.

FFS, Mad Dog chased one hard. If he can do it, Jimmy Mac can.

Kurt is our man that does that, he makes good kicks great with enthusiasm...... I fear we are becoming a one man team again.

6. Mullen
7. Dureau

That is our future. Scott had a poor game, but has had a heck of a season.

Spot on. There are some very fickle people on this forum.

I thought all 3 were pretty average last night. Mullen put on one decent pass, but I don't feel it was incredibly special. His chase in defence was spectacular, but 10 seconds later he went low on his line to allow the try anyway. Totally undid his own hard work.

Dureau was ****-ordinary. And the only thing Bailey did was catch a brilliant Bedsy pass. According to Hadley this afternoon, that'll see him in the Toyota Cup next week. He assumingly thinks he's worth $150000+ a year.
