2KY congratulated him on a good tour (what were they watching?)
PB says theyre in a review and will be a tricky situation
His reaction is "a bit disappointed" and the board has to die by the decision
"A lot of players only come to the club for Chris Anderson"
Bails said they didnt make a mistake appointing CA and credited him for 2002 turnaround
Bails likes him as a person and a coach, says "only time will tell" how things will go
He has "absolutely no idea at all" whether or not he is going to be a Shark
I think he said the club hasnt upgraded him after his representative status
Manager hasnt talked with other clubs but will get some calls today
Has some ideas about where he'd like to go...mentioned Balmain because he was a Tigers supporter as a kid?!
Reckons he is "in the box seat" but says he wouldnt mind going to another club even on a small contract in the first year if they make it up in the second and third
His training starts in January
Bailey says his go is the form guide every Saturday, he's gonna kick back until January
He seems to think he is much more of a commodity than he actually is...

I also heard the interveiw, and I have to say at first I genuinely believed that the Anderson issue would play a great part in his decision. He then said something to the effect of " I am only in Rugby League for a short time and I have to do whats best for my family" Ding Dong. I think the cat has been let out of the bag. An upgraded contract is all this cool cat is after.

Now, I am certainly not saying that he will stay, I believe now that it will be the highest bidder who will get his services.

bit of an ego on the kid

BUT

this is an emotional time for all those connected to this crisis

it would be unfair to focus on unwise utterings immediately after a major event in these guys lives

give it time

"bit of an ego on the kid"

His ego makes him look a retiring introverted bookworm compared to some of the posters on this forum.

I was just listening to a well known media personality saying there wouldn't be too many clubs able to pay the money Bailey now commands without going over the cap.

Can someone please point out what is so great about this bloke anyway. I happen to believe he has been given a very a helping hand to raise his profile. Does anyone really believe he's that good? I must be a poor judge because he appears to be a journeyman at best.

Fair analysis Gunna & probably some truth to it, but who would know.

Evidence?

if you don't have the "operation" I'll pick you everyweek.
Big call seeing Juice was there, Franze, et al.

Australian centre? give me break.
Played for NSW 30 minutes all up & he runs on for Australia??

Same manager as Anderson.
Why?

Clause in his contract.
why?

A bit fishy indeed.

Bailey has got delusions of grandeur.

He's starting to believe his own press and seems to believe that, by achieving international status, he actually has that kind of ability, conveniently ignoring the circumstances that led to his inclusion (eg Anderson's influence and the fact that nearly every other centre in Australia being injured).

I think a reality check is needed. He might get that if he starts touting other clubs.

All this cocky felcher is saying is "show me the money" ......bleh, he can FO

Don't bag him too much.
he'll be there for us this year & will be in the forwards or as a bench impact player. he'll do well for us.
We need to get the best value out of him next year.
but don't be surprised if he has that operation now.

In fairness to Bailey, he did say in the interview something along the lines of "I love playing for the Sharks, I love the area..." I know he's got a big ego, but I thought he sounded pretty reasonable in that interview considering how disappointed he was.

IMO he is not yet a representative player (by playing standard). He should consider himself very lucky for the time he spent with the Blues and Kangaroos.

Perhaps it was a bit of a ploy by Anderson - use Bailey in the Aussie side, that way he could say to the board, if i get sacked, you lose Bailey too. A little bit of extra ammo for CA perhaps?

I'd like to see him stay for next season, but if he goes he goes - i won't be crying in my cornflakes over it!

A positive regarding Ando's sacking, is atleast the nuff wont come within a kilometre of our backline.

Everyone says what a great backrower he is ......but it seems like a decade since he's played there, and even then, his "aura" had alot to do with matty johns' media driven hype (greg bird anyone?!) rather than onfield performance......... I hope he stays, but he still has aLOT to prove imo.

You're going to let a bloke who only made Origin & the 'Roo Tour because of injuries dictate club policy to your front office??

He's a fair player but even the Broncos in the early 90's didn't tolerate shit from King Wally Lewis.

No-one is bigger than the club.

Cheers,
Ben S.

Let's see if you are still saying that after he signs with you.

And he'll fit under our Salary Cap, how??

Anyway, we've already got a World Class Bailey - we don't need a pretender!! Phil Bailey is a good First Grader but not in the same class as Gaz or Timmo in the centres. My guess is that he'd play in the back row in the unlikely event he'd sign with us.

Like I said before, it'll be a sad day when a petulant First grader tries to tell a football club who can & cannot coach the first grade team...
Cheers,
Ben S.
