Bands that sound like other bands

You pick on poor old Krokus but have nothing to say about Airborne?

I'm not sure, but I assume with Airbourne they intentionally are trying their hardest to be AC/DC. Surely they can't honestly claim to be their own band can they?

Crowded House are a bit of a mix between The Beatles and The Byrds for my money, with a bit of a 60s folk/psychadelic mixed in.

As to the topic of this thread, whenever I hear Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" I think of Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out". Same with Pearl Jam's "Given To Fly" and Led Zep's "Going to California".

Apparently Muse's latest is supposed to sound a bit Queen like.

Would think Queen would be one band tough to imitate.

That Sometimes song by Miami Horror is a New Order rip-off. But a great song nonetheless.

But yeah, totally agree with Airbourne.

This is a hard topic because there hasn't really been anything new and inventive, when it comes to rock bands, in a long time.
The only real differences are the actual sounds and productions, and imo the old valve/warm sound shytes all over the digital express we've been induced to over a long period of time.
What i hear is the better musos just use the classic modes with a bit of their own twist on it, which i like and have no problem with. It's the obvious ones, ala Jet, Vines etc that make me cringe.

One band out of the box that i do think sounds like another is, Franz Ferdinand with Spilt Enz.
First time i saw them i thought it, and i still do. This is not such a bad thing, mind you.

So Airbourne sound like the greatest rock band of all time.

Who cares - they still rock.

Anyone who pays homage to great oz rock such as acca dacca, rose tatoo, angels etc and do it well are ok by me.

And they absolutely tear it up live.

I've always been quite amused by the number of bands who have tried to do the post punk/hardcore that Fugazi pioneered. But of course none do it better.
