As for comments above that the coach has lashed the media that is laughable, or that the coach comments in the presser are somehow indicative of the clubs record or whatever please, leave it out!

Every coach in the NRL says the same shit, "I didn't see it properly, didn't get a good look at it etc". In fact, the coach saying Mitch doesn't need him kicking him publicly says all that is needed. The coach knows it was wrong, isn't going to carry on about it to the media and will address it in house!

Even Coach Cleary didn't really want to comment on it and said it was out of character.
I agree it is hard to be too critical of AOB personally for his comments. While I would love all coaches to come out and call out the bad behaviour of their players, it is a league wide problem and no coach would have done differently.

Serves Smith right, to be honest.

In fact, I'd like to see more of these forearms to the heads of decoy runners whose clear intent is to f**k with sliding defenders. If the NRL only punishes incidents like these with fines then maybe we'd see a lot less of it.

I've got no issue with Barnett getting a stint. Being referred straight to the judiciary means he is going to cop it. Rightfully so.

But the NRL really has to have a good hard look at the judiciary and how they define what is worth a suspension.

Fines for something accidental, just bad technique I can cop. But lets be honest fines mean sweet FA to an NRL player. But looking at NAS hit, clenched fist, swinging arm and connected with the head and not even sin binned on field, leading to a fine by the NRL is a complete farce.
I agree with this. If Mitch B was a ‘name’ he would get 3 weeks. If Chris S was a name, Mitch would be looking at 12. I personally think they will roll two dice (so the odds say 7 weeks).

Let's see . . . . Collins got a $750 fine for a cannonball tackle that Ronnie Gibbs himself cringed at . . . . so I'd say a $350 fine is what's coming.

If NAS only got a $1000 for his shot then Barney might only get a 2k fine and 10 minutes in the naughty corner.

Finally! Agreed.

Going to guess 6 weeks.

How's this work btw? Because there's no grading, the judiciary can choose as many weeks as they like? Or do they still have to follow some sort of grading themselves?

Has it been confirmed if Smith did actually break his jaw. I saw it suggested here initially but haven’t read it anywhere else.

Probably hasn't had scans yet, Bathurst being a country town and all and places that do this no doubt being closed on the weekend. You might remember when Trent Merrin dislocated his finger up there in the warm up he had to travel to Orange to get it put back in.

since when have they followed any sort of grading?
Those jokers have been doing as they like since the dawn of time. He could get 2 weeks or 15…

They will make an example of him, and even though it hurts my team it’s hard to argue.

One of the dumbest merkin things I have seen on a footy field. How did he think that would end up?
There must be bad blood between the two. Surely you don’t carry out such a low act on another person for no reason. Then again, even if there was history there’s no excuse.
10 weeks minimum going on what Prior did to Thurston.
