Batten down the hatches, folks, the storm in a salary cap may not be over yet

These must be two of the most laughably pathetic articles i've ever wasted time reading. Forensic salary cap audit may come up with more detail? Really? I never would have guessed a 3 month audit by deloitte may uncover a bit more detail than a former storm employee ratting to shubert. This story has now become a vehicle for any journalist to lazily write anything. "it could go up to 2 million". How do they know? Why not write 3million? Or 4? Laughable.

Exactly what I was thinking. As if it's a shock or even news. Of course more will be uncovered FFS.

Yea, i find the fact that this year they are massively over and in other years hardly at all rather amusing. Considering that id imagine the full audit will show this has been occuring since 1999.

Do people not realise this club won a comp in their second year? Does that not ring alarm bells at all to anyone?

They were allowed to go over the salary cap for the first five years, cant remember the exact amounts , to aide in the establishment of a new club and that was fair enough. Every new club needs some help to get up and running. The problem is after the five years was up they didnt stop breaching the cap they just hid the fact that they were still doing it.
The NRL has left themselves in a vulnerable position for this season for allowing them to keep playing with the same players. They are still breaking the salary cap regulations and as such their team is illigitimate and therefore all games they win are open to appeal by the opposing teams. They need to bring their playing group into line with the salary cap right now not next year. If that means dropping some players and breaking their contracts then that is what they must do. It is then up to those dropped players to take civil action for breach of contract. The NRL cant put those players above all the rest just to allow the storm to honour those contracts. The rules are the rules and if they are being broken it is up to the NRL to put things right immediately. Why should the other 15 teams have to continue to be screwed by this mob of criminals, which is all they are at the end of the day. Perpetrators of a well organised crime.

at this point how legally binding are those contracts anyway? good luck to the players sueing for breach of contract when the club is in breach of one itself

I was thinking of the players. The players from the other 15 teams that is. They (teams) have all done the right thing and are being disadvantaged for their efforts.

The part in the article where it says that because more might be uncovered is why it is ludicrous to say that the Storm should be playing for points this year under a legal cap is FOOLISH.

They should not play for points even under a legal cap because more could be uncovered? Alright folks every club is suspended from this years competition, because they MIGHT be cheating the cap. Melbourne could be over by more, any club could be over the cap! Souths should be unallowed to play for points because they might be over the cap! Same with Dragons, Panthers, Broncos.......

So much for taking the punishment gracefully...

The Chairman of the Melbourne Storm has stated they are considering legal action to get their premierships back...

... But, but, but... I thought it was this years points that they were upset about...

Seriously, if they take the NRL to court, I want them booted.

I respected their acceptance of the penalty, but then the players and coach start whinging, the fans start whinging, and now the chairman has changed his tune too.

Melbourne Storm = The True Scum.

We have been booted for the rest of the year

So, You wanted South Sydney to stay out of the comp because they took the NRL to Court as well?

Oh Please, Come back when you have a premiership

No, I didn't. Reason being Souths did not cheat the competition and were actually kicked out of the comp.

Melbourne aren't getting kicked out of the comp, they had premierships (which were won because of cheating) taken away from them.

How can you compare Souths getting booted unfairly and the Storm ruining RL for 5 years???? FMD they did the wrong thing just cop the punishment on the chin and look to next season.
