Beat The Crowd

This Saturday is a great opportunity for Jets supporters to be part of history with the "BEAT THE CROWD" day when we take on the Parramatta Eels at Henson Park with a 3pm kick off and there is the JOHN PEARD Cup A-Grade challenge between the Roosters and Dragons at 1:15pm.

Be Part of History and bring your mother, father, brother, sister, wife, girlfriend (but not together) and kids and there admission is 2 for 1 so the money you save on admission can buy you a cold KB.

Lets show the league that despite not being an NRL club we have the biggest, best and most dedicated supporters in the game and show people what the Henson experience is all about.

Lets beat 8972.

set a new crowd record for Henson Park since the Jets last played there as a NSWRL first grade entity in 1983. Special features for the day include two for one adult’s gate entry, free entry for all Roosters and Eels NRL season ticket holders, special attractions for children plus a cash raffle prize. Next Saturday afternoon’s important match with the Parramatta Eels is timed to kick off at 3.00pm.

Not the best weekend for me to enlist people, as most of my extended family will be away and I don't have many friends hence my presence on this forum  Hopefully the weather isnt crap as I don't think its the entry price that keep the punters away.

Would I be right in saying the biggest crowd at Henson last year was the match against Parramatta? I'm sure a lot of Eels fans are already planning to come next weekend (myself included) but this should be posted over on the Eels forum to convince the undecideds...

With the revamp of PL next year (with the Eels looking like outsourcing to Mounties or the Demons) is this going to be the last time a Parramatta side will play a Jets side in a competition match?

bluebag, what a fantastic idea, great to read some has forward thinking being implemented from the club.

lets put all the bullsh*t aside for one day, it is obvious there are a select few who have Newtown close to there heart.

these guys need to be supported as they are obviously the future we need to keep afloat.

that doesn't mean the spineless few have escaped, my delving has opened a can of worms, now a decision needs to be made! should the honest, hard working select few suffer at the hands of the self gratifying 3?

stay tuned fellow jets fans, this is all about to explode.

I personally think it's a good move trying to bring a few extra Parra fans through the gate, what we'll lose on the entry fee not getting paid we'll gain by them spending money in the tuck shop and on grog, and they may even walk out with a t-shirt.

It's got nothing to do with what they may or may not spend!

I posted the 'Beat the Crowd' spiel in the Parramatta Forum... For me Eels at Henson is one of the season's highlights and it will be sad that I may no longer see the blue and golds go round there again as we go down the outsourcing path... Next year it will be Jets v Mounties...? Jets v Demons...?

Like uncle Fitzy can't afford the PL team....

It will be a shame if Parra do go down that path and loss of another traditional NSWRL team which is one of the real attractions of the PL these days.

Shame Fitzy, shame.

When the Leagues' Club's property developments start paying off (the Leagues club's been building up a property portfolio around Parramatta for the last few decades) then money will be less of an issue - though not really an issue now.

I can't fault Denis' financial management, really - though there may be some Football Club members who would disagree... The Leagues Club is still making a $1m profit even after revenue has been invested in property developments.

It will be a shame if Parra do go down that path and loss of another traditional NSWRL team which is one of the real attractions of the PL these days.

Yup - quite sad... As the main architect for the the National U/20s competition I think Denis wants to concentrate on that and forget about PL.

I don't think it's just Parramatta that will go down that route for 2008 either. Seems that the 'new' PL will have no current NSW NRL sides in it... So Penrith will probably outsource to St Mary's again, Parramatta to Mounties (most likely) - or Demons, or Wenty. For Parramatta it will depend on which business partner they want to suck up to more - for my money it's Mounties who are the largest of the three Western Sydney pokie palaces represented in the Jim Beam Cup and are a major sponsor of the club.

Shame Fitzy, shame.

Most Eels fans have been ignoring Denis for a while now - that way as long as he runs the Leagues Club in a way that will keep Parramatta in the NRL he's fine.

Very sad indeed. Apparently its called progress.....That would only leave us, the mighty bears and maybe the maggies. Maybe the start of a 100yr tradition of Bluebags V Mounties..... oh sh$t!.....

Jim Beam cup will have a bigger following mate. Who is going to go and see the Jets versus the Cairns Cunnies anyway FFS !!!! ( Apart from us ) LOL )....... Been saying it for months mate. You could tell they were up to something when the draw came out minus a lot of P/L prior to first grade games this season. weaning the fans off it so to speak. :x

Mate, have been saying it for months wilh hardly any responses etc. It CANNOT be a good thing for the Jets. We need a grandfinal THIS season more than ever, but this has been kicked in nuts by the departing talent I would say. The remaining players need a Pre-game chat from Tommy or Col, otherwise the lack of passion will be season over. In fact this weekend's game is imperative to the final eight sitting I would say !!!!!
