Surgery setback for Buderus

Newcastle Knights’ hooker Danny Buderus has today had disc surgery and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Buderus, who has been managing the issue for some time, opted for surgery to ensure the best possible outcome.
“Danny has had a great pre-season so it is obviously disappointing for him to have surgery now,” Performance Director Jeremy Hickmans said.
“With the surgery done, he will rest for the next four weeks and then be in rehab for about four weeks.
“While it means we will be without Danny for the early rounds, we all look forward to getting him back fresh to take on the rest of the season.”

Dammit... We all know this will see Waddell play hooker.. But f**k I would love to have Kurt there with Roberts at halfback.. That would be a killer combination to start the season..

By pushing gidley to hooker, if anything we would be in better shape than with Bedsy there.. By playing Waddell at hooker we are going to lose a lot of go forward and creativity..

Id guess that both Bedsy and the docs wanted to see how it responded to treatment first before considering getting surgery. Its a common enough practice
