Gotta feel for Kasey Badger, she was set for the line honours then called a Cameron Smith forward pass.

But in all seriousness, the word up north is that’s she’s been woeful as an official.

Could this be a knee jerk reaction to the recent comments about the NRL not being centric to the female audience?

Seems very convenient

Kasey's still recovering from off-season surgery, so you're way off the mark. The rest of your conspiracy theory rubbish and hearsay isn't even worth responding to.

I still reckon someone like Linda Meech would've made a great NRL ref with her soothing voice

I wonder what drives someone to become a professional sports ref. Constant player/fan abuse and media scrutiny for (from what I know) average money. Doesn't exactly seem appealing.

Anyway, good luck to her.

Being bullied at school, not having any personality traits that make you stand out, no authority or power in normal life?

Power trippin maaannnn.....

Being willing to commit to providing an essential (if unpopular) service to the sport you love
Putting up with relentless abuse from fans, players and the media
Putting in as much work as top grade players for much less money
Having to make hundreds of judgement calls a game - weaving their way through a maze of "interpretations" and "policies" whereby rules are no longer black and white, but murky shades of grey and having every decision publicly scrutinised and dissected

Yeah, real power trip

I think the word you are after is masochist

In all seriousity, anyone able to tell us how she went?
Fairly straightforward game, she was paired with Matt Noyen. No dramas I could see during the game. Full replay available at Seagulls TV

She's done plenty of Qld Cup in the past few years and the game on Saturday night wasn't much above that level to be honest. The refs had a good game.

As the legendary referee Col Pearce once said, supporters don't pay money to watch someone blow a whistle. He was essentially saying that if the refs go unnoticed, then they are doing a good job.

But if this thread is anything to go by, Ref Sleeman is going to be under more scrutiny than most.

Good luck to her. You couldn't pay me enough to be a ref.

Don’t care what sex she is, if she’s good that’s all that matters.

Hoping the nrl doesn’t start gifting positions to minority’s just to be “fair”.

What are we living in 2016? FFS It's 2019 people.... we should have a transgender non binary humanoid vegan making her (they) debut already.
NRL falling behind again.
