Belmore?

I was just wondering if this was permantly gone and if you had any plans of going back there in the future. Its a heritage ground rich in tradition and is up there with the likes of Leichardt, Redfern, Kogarah and Toyota.

I thought I heard somewhere you may go back in the future, but that source has been wrong about lots of things. Id like to think we could stay with these traditional venues

I agree BBSF.

Unfortunately the club has decided to move office away from Belmore permanently at the end of 2006.

A good fella by the name of Luke is running a campaign to bring Canterbury back to Belmore though.

His website is www.backtobelmore.com.au

Go on there and sign the petition BBSF, they want opposing supporters there as well.

I also believe he will be bringing petitions to Dogs' games next season as well.

It's a great cause and I hope he succeeds,

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. If the stoptherot campaign run by souly west tigers supporters can get that $1 million then im sure Belmore if it needed any help could get some too.

BTW, solid start mr moderator, handled the pressure question well

Realistically it's unlikely that they will return.

It is going to cost the club $15 Million to upgrade the ground into a satisfactory state.

The council don't seem to want to help, which is quite unfortunate.

Luke is a persistent fella though, and he is determined to make this cause work.

He will continue with his campaign, I guess the more signatures on his petitions the better, because that will encourage more action from the council's side of the fence.

Go on there and sign it BBSF, it's great to see that you're showing an interest in bringing back the suburban grounds, I for one agree with you and hope that Luke succeeds.

And thanks for the wrap ;-)

Cheers.

I like belmore, but it is not up to scratch. It is going to cost a hell of a lot of money to get it there. Like Rammo said, the council does not want to spend the money to do so.

I can't see this happening in the near future, maybe when im old and grey!

I think the longer we go without returning to Belmore the less likely we are of going back there.

By the time you're Old and grey Dogaholic, the ground will probably have been knocked down.

It would have been great if the Oasis project worked.

At least then we would have had a suburban home ground.

But we all know what happened with that.

Whilever crowds continue to grow at Telstra, they won't go back either.

I think the Oasis project was a great concept. Refurbishing Belmore is also a fantastic idea but I can't see it happening. We're stuck with Homebush. As long as the Showground isn't used more than once or twice a year, its okay.

the club is looking to get i think 10k season ticket holders within the next few years.. we are currently on 3k i believe.... this with thier projected outlook of hopefully getting crowds of 40k in the near future means belmore isnt suffiecient even with an upgrade...

Just try and get behind the campaign guys.

I know it seems far fetched, but you never know what people power can achieve.

Go here, www.backtobelmore.com.au

Sign the petition and have a look on the site, there are some transcripts of Luke's interviews with some VIPs.

He's also going doorknocking this weekend in surrounding areas of Belmore.

Cheers.

As a Saints fan IMO you bulldogs fans should all get together and stop going to games at Homebush when the Bulldogs administrators see the empty stands at Telstra they will have no option but to go back to Belmore
