Jeffles, do you really think that NZ is a big place. I think you will find that the population of NZ is about the same as Sydney. The only difference is that rugby league is the majority rugby code in Sydney and it is a minority sport in NZ where Rugby Union is the professional code.
Rugby league in NZ is an amateur game. The only guys getting paid in Bartercard are those with a Warriors contract. Some of the grounds dont even have a fence. That is why apart from the warriors contracted players every Kiwi that can play is in Australia or Britain.
There are more than 1000 kiwi qualified players over the age of 18 in Sydney playing at all sorts of levels.
