Why would it make any difference? We had Carney for 2 years and it didn't make much of a difference. I fully expect us to play exactly the same next year as we have for the past 5 years.

Nah, he was back for Barba. It was his first act in returning. You could argue that he did it because everyone was freaking out that we hadn't signed anyone of note?

The same Carney that was injured for the finals series where we came within a bees of beating Manly you mean?

Both Fifeets are looking lean and mean. Feel like 2016 may come down to wheather or not those two can keep their eyes on the prize.

Both fifitas look like truck drivers I reckon
Plus I was told today again Barba failed a few fitness tests due to weight.
I'm talking professional sportsman fitness levels.
I get the impression they were meant to stay at a certain level during the break.
Sounds like he didn't.
Just what I was told.

FTR this has nothing to do with what the OP posted
I'd hate to cause any confusion.

I couldn't care less if a player comes back after the offseason break a bit overweight...(not Jamal Idris overweight though). Who doesn't hit the piss / food harder in their holidays?

It means he's actually had a break & is refreshed.

As long as he hooks into training, what does it matter. Long time to the first trial!

Agree.

It's to a player's advantage to keep a bit fit during the offseason, makes the first few sessions of training easier.

If they have to train as hard as the rest of the squad in warm conditions, they'll soon catch up.

Agreed,
Better than training all offseason & coming back without some relaxation/stress relief

So the stuff you've written above on Barba, isn't this the spreading of the fat rumours cb4 was talking about?
I can't see how Barba is overweight? Fifita's guts would be heavier than Barba.

Not trying to shit stir Carch, and it does seem someone (I don't mean you) has an agenda.

This.

I saw Barba today, wasn't close enough to gauge his fat rolls but he's looking pretty damn fit if you ask me. A lot of players come back from pre season and "fail" pinch tests etc. Drawing a long bow to complain about his weight.

Well ok
Someone else posted the Barba weight issue first
I said I'd heard the same story ( a source whom I believe is trustworthy and without any agenda told me).
Then it was raised again in here ( not by me ) and basically some people were saying what I'd heard was false.
Then I was told again just yesterday ( without any probing from me mind you ) that the story is in fact true.
Obviously it is a rumour in here as I have no link .

oh
and I was told fifita also failed.

I guess it all comes down to interpretation of what is fat.

He's probably slimmer than everyone in here but because he's failed a couple of tests, he's "fat".

Depends how big a deal some in the club make of it. According to cb4, obviously too much.

I'm guessing each player is given a personalised off season plan the are told to follow.
I'm guessing blokes like Hasler and Bennet do the same thing.
I'm guessing that if a player fails to present himself on day one in a condition that clearly shows they didn't do the work they are getting paid to do that they'll cop some shit.

I'm not a coach
I don't even know a coach
I'm just guessing...and I'd say what I have guessed would be a pretty good guess...I guess.

I can understand if the coaching staff is a little upset if a few of their players have come back not to the weight that was expected, it is unprofessional.
I do not understand why it is getting out to the public.
Deal with it professionally.
What other players, from other clubs, have people heard about with this type of issue?

Every club makes bullshit up when they want someone gone, or when something doesn't go there way.

Go into the Rabbitohs forum now and check out the Dylan Walker threads. In 2014 and even this season you didn't hear or read anything about his off field issues.

Now he is going to Manly and all of a sudden he is a raging alcoholic with a chip on his shoulder and a drug problem.

It's the way of the rugby league world these days.
