Just read that his manager said on SEN Queensland that he’s open to all offers, including Super League.

What?

You and your client just agitated yourselves out of a million dollars in the next twelve months and no one is knocking on the door.

Absolute arse smacking by Flange here.

Honestly believe all clubs will follow this lead from here.

A Man doing it like a Man and putting the kids firmly in their places.

Good point and Hunt represented an extreme form of entitled disgruntlement.

Clubs are notoriously cowardly about bringing wayward stars into line.

South’s is about the worst example at the moment. And I don’t care for Gus but I agree with him that Lats should have been made to heel years ago and that might have helped him in the long run.
Cook will love to be free of that rubbish and play for a “side of truth” under Flanno.

But it’s exciting that Flanno wants a side of truth who to have a go and where the club means more than celebrity and a pay check.

We all see it at work, who is authentic and wants everyone to do well v who is there for themselves.

If people are procrastinating about club membership, if you can afford it, the decision has been made for you.

Get on the phone, sign up and support your club.

You won’t be happy with everything but at the end of the day, you’ll be part of the effort.

And from experience, it’s much better slagging off the club, if you are actually part of it. It’s your divine right!

Now who do we have in mind as Hunts replacement. Good game managers dont grow on trees, not that Hunt was one, but be great to have one as our next half. Names being bandied about are Pezet, Sexton and Wishart. We dont have to be stingy either given we now have an additional $1m to boost our war chest.

I couldn't stop laughing about these comments by the writer of the article -

"Despite Flanagan’s confidence, the Dragons are now the longest priced club to win the 2025 premiership after Hunt’s departure.

If the Dragons can land one of Wishart, Trindall or Brown for 2026, that will be a fair trade for Hunt, given their younger ages and ability to be long-term halves for the club.

However, that won’t help the Dragons push to break their finals drought in 2025, with the year increasingly looking like a write-off without a recognised halfback."

Hahahahaha!

Thats funny Dave I didnt think we had a recognised half back for the last 6 years, I'm pretty sure we had a fraud who sucked $7 mil out of the club and gave us nothing.

Our last two club captains have now left the club before they have retired... something not quiete right with that (looking at you Board).

I thought McInness was a mistake (and he would be thriving under Flange).

Benny's time is up and I think it's a great decision for all parties... and I'm very happy if we don't have to pay him a cent for this season! He seems a bit like Hynes... lot's of noise in his head.

Widdop as well. At least he had the decency to give us one year notice.

McInnes was at least off contract and we got rid of the coach that gave him a chance. Definitely missed opportunity to have Robson at 9 and McInnes at 13 though.

Unlike hunt that pushed for a contract extension and has spent time trying to get out of it ever since we got rid of Griffin

I want Atkinson.
He's my man also.. feel like hes the right age and potential of the available options (I mean he still needs a release but I think its not a far fetched one), he has pace, confidence.. could play 6 or 7 initially.

Wishart I would love also but we cant talk to him and he seems happy.. but.. they want to play him @13 which seems odd.. and they seem like they will retain Pezet.. so you never know. Dont rly want Pezet for a year though unless we have no better options.. would rather take a punt on someone we can keep.

We have a little positive-momentum window here after Gutho signs and Hunt being gone.. lets grab someone decent.

Oh yes let this moron know, that in the first time since Wayne Bennett era, I'll be buying membership thanks to the Stop sign leaving, my way of celebrating.

This exerpt from an article from the SMH stood out to me.

People at the Dragons often say he never really formed any close bonds with players at the Dragons – apart from those he previously played with at the Broncos and Maroons – and distanced himself from social gatherings with teammates.

They also said he is an introvert by nature; a family man who wanted to spend as little time at training in Wollongong as possible and as much time back in the Shire with his young family.

While the Dragons saw it as an admirable trait as a father and a husband, it was less than ideal as the captain of one of the most iconic brands in Australian sport that was crying out for leadership.

--------

I really think this says a lot. As a bit of introvert and family man myself I am not going to criticise his personality, but when you look a the culture of the team that has just won its 4th straight premiership, or any of the successful clubs, this would just not fly. It is so polar opposite to winning team culture. The captain needs to be an inspiration and respected, and to do this he needs to be a real team player. Hunt is great individual player on his day but he is not a team man.

Widdop as well. At least he had the decency to give us one year notice.

McInnes wanted 4 years as did Simms. Saints baulked and fair enough too imo..; regret Robson though!

Matches 19: Try Assists 4 , Line Break Assists 2.

Not great stats for a play maker.

Five tries in 19 matches on top of that is pretty good tho. And in four of those matches he came on as interchange and played just 10-15 minutes.

In five of the 19 matches he is listed as "replacement" with zero minutes played (is that what this means?)

So if I am reading the table correctly, he has played only 10 full matches, not 19.

On the other hand, his tackle efficiency is just 82.8%.

I wonder if Hunt will get the feeling that he is being missed by the Dragons faithful when he goes to sleep tonite :)
He'll get the message when he runs onto Kog/Gong next year in different colours... if he gets an nrl contract.... would love a "ben hunt you merkin chant" ringing around the ground, but if that's too offensive, just the big booooo every time he touches the ball, going into a bronx cheer each time he screws up.
