Yes, he’s gone from wanting to be “just a part of the side” to being the “golden immortal sage and home grown saviour” in the space of a couple of days.

Up until recently, I thought it wasn’t possible for a person to stick their head so far up their own ass.

I’ve heard (obviously untrue) rumours his deal included a job post career.
I thought this wasn’t even allowed? Or has the rule changed? Surely every rooster and bulldog would have a guaranteed job after as well then.

This is what someone has written in Reddit on the matter.

"How many people fail to understand that the salary cap rules provide a specific and documented provision for this exact scenario - detailing that it IS permitted as part of their final year of their career, they can receive both an income from their NRL contract AND payment for a transition to a working role for post football life. It just needs to be at commercial rates and not some dodgy 500k+ a year for an entry level role etc."
"Under NRL salary cap rules, in the final year of their career, a player can be paid off the salary cap as part of their transition into retirement. It is understood the role has to be documented and the payment has to be at market rates."

Well the media loves to set up a villain and then lift him up and then cut him down.

Because it’s not about balanced reporting, it’s about selling advertising.

So much for Hunt supposedly staying in Sydney to look after his kids and wife.

He even used them to try to justify his ever changing decisions.

Pretty self-centred, narcissistic and grubby stuff.

I don’t think many of us would use our family in that way.

And he described his exit as “messy”.

No Ben, it was simply you being a tool.

And he’s not going to change because he’s up there. He will become even more feral and infect their side with his shameless selfishness.

Flanno called him out. Just picked up the ball and ran at him!

I wish Benji had some guts, anyway, he’s simply not ready to coach NRL atm.

It's been going on for decades
Including family members Jobs
Perks. So On
Cheap accommodation. Housing
Cars. Jobs. Education. Training
So On 🧐
That’s right.

Over the west tigers, part of Tims Sheens package was a job for his wife from England.

There was over half a million unemployed folk here in Oz looking for work at the time. None of them qualified lol.

Read it, they can do it for retiring players or when they are in their last year when Hunt will be in 26. Brought in the RLPA..transitioning to retirement. Gigs in media, coaching, marketing, ambassadors etc or even a well paid orange peeler as long as it is market value salary for that job..cough cough

I raised this a while back -
Broncs are packing a lot of marquee heat, but I don’t have much faith in them tbh as the seasons unwinds.

Because Bunt made that premature announcement about wanting to stay in Sydney, I think he was all but resigned to having to play for the dogs or the roosters.

But I figure they weren’t prepared to reshape and reshuffle their sides (or plans) as he was never supposed to hit the market when he did.

It was said earlier, his timing was bloody awful, very rash and nothing in concrete ( it seems).

But I don’t think Renno will last the season or much of it tbh. Back in his day, he pounded his body into oblivion.
I think that’s why South’s let him go ( a bit unfairly).

So if it goes ahead, Bunt had better be ready for 7. I am interested to see how he plays with a team a stars and whether it suits his game.

While I would love to see Bhunt cop the Brunt of the wrath of the Broncs fans, I cannot see him failing up there with the players that they have. I think that he will make the Broncs a much more cohesive team. I hope I am proved wrong though.
