He is listed in the Balmain PL squad for next year - along with another name we shouldn't have had to see again (frank samia) and it looks likely he will spend next year taking a spot that should by rights belong to the likes of nowland or chase.

Ben Jeffries was average at best and a throwback to times best forgotten. Like Adam Tippett, Luke Covell, Joel Caine, Nick Bradley-Qalilawa, Hassan Saleh, Ahmed Bajouri, Trent Runciman etc, their passports should have all been stamped "Never to return to the NRL".

5 minutes of promise a career does not make.....

How Covellesque of him.

Jeffries was dead bloody average.

Hmmm... he was far from consistently good, but he did play quite a few good games speckled with the odd patch of brilliance. I remember seeing a banner at Shark Park saying "Who needs Johns, we've got Jefferies". At the time, it was true.

He played quite a few bad ones too.

That banner must have been made by a relo of his.

I don't recall Jeffries with any fondness whatsoever. Another in a long line of nuffies who showed some promise but in the end just couldn't hack it in the NRL.

Jefferies had a brilliant kicking game and sound running game. It was his passing and organising that seemed to let him down. I always thought he had potential. He was better then Withers.

oh dear

I've just realised that for some reason my brain wasn't working very well yesterday - when I read (and wrote) frank samia for some reason I was thinking of hassan salah

I actually think Frank Samia is a very good player and if he manages an injury free year will be an asset to Balmain

Jeffries on the other hand is still crap
