Benji Dropped or injured

Did anyone else see the interview with Benji before the game with Yvonne Sampson? Benji said "I just pulled up a little sore after training Thusday night" I will defiantly be right for next week".

To me that sounded like complete crap. He didn't seem at all worried about the so called injury and didn't want to elaborate on details.

What does everyone else think? I think they wanted Mcrone to partner Widdop in the halves and told Benji to have a rest and just said he sustained an injury..The old "my hamstring pulled up sore mate"but I'm definitely alright for next week".lol.

Benji would have played if fit. His Defense has been great this year and he has been playing well.

McCrone was solid, dont think hes going to create any points, but did the job.. I still dont like that our reserve hooker got the first opportunity in the halves.. but he would have been deemed safer than the next 3 options in Hutch/Nona/Wallace whom personally I would have loved to see but would be far riskier.. and McCrone is probably more capable of directing blokes around him..

In any case.. im sure Benji will be straight back in, hes still our only x-factor in the entire squad.

Drop him because his game doesn't suit wet weather football.Long cut out passes to no one is not ideal in the wet weather.

ive gotta disagree with you there. His kicking game on anzac day last year was a masterclass in the monsoon we were playing in.

Bunji needs to go back and watch replays of how he was playing during our winning streak last year. Controlled, composed, great kicking game, didn't overplay his part. It goes against his natural instincts, but during that period of un-benjiness, he was even being touted as playing for NZ again. It really is a case of less is more with Benji.

Why risk Benji under those conditions. Saints have something they have not had for a while and that is depth. Goes to show what a good position they are in where they can rest players so they don't risk further injury.

Good to see Benji can be replaced with a guy who has a heap of NRL experience in McCrone. He was solid and showed how crucial Benji is to our attack. They had hardly any line breaks because he was not there. No coincidence.
