Benji Marshall = Speed

Has there ever been a player that plays at a faster speed then Marshall?

When he has the ball in his hand he play at a faster pace than anyone in the game. I believe he has taken that aspect of the game to a new level.

His running, stepping, passing and the way he drifts and dummies is very quick.

The funny thing about how fast Marshall looks is that other great 5/8s looked the exact opposite.

Watching Freddy, Lockyer or especially Wally they move at their own pace, biding their time and goading someone in the opposition to break formation and rush them.

The new 5/8s like Marshall, Carney (when not on the cans) and Soward certainly take a different approach these days.

Guys like Thurston and Marshall do play the game at a tremendous speed. But there have been others Steve Mortimer,Allan Langer, Greg Alexander could all play at great speed i believe Greg Alexander was one of the top 5 fastest players in the game at the time of his prime.

I really wish there was a mix of Jason Smith style halves and these type of Halves though.
