Goodbye Anderson. Welcome back Bennett. In a few momnets Wayne Bennett will be announced as the new Australian RL coach. It was only a matter of time for Anderson to be austed after taking the standard of Australian RL down a few notches and making the Pommies look good.

Good ridance.

Yet he won the series with so many certainties out. I think it is time for a change of coach, but not because of results.

I reckon if Anderson hadn't of selected Darren Smith ahead of others for the last Test, he probably would have hung on to the job.

Problem with Bennett is he wants the side picked along state lines, not just the best team.

His comments last year(and Livermores) basically meant that one state should have 9 players, the other 8. Which isn't right. Should be the best side.

Lockyer, MiniC, Gidley, Hodges, Lewis, Barrett, Johns, Simpson, Fitzgibbon, Kennedy, Webcke, Buderus, Bailey - Ryles, Hindmarsh, Lyon, ???

QLD - 3
NSW - 13
Undecided - 1

At Last !! The Australian team is FINALLY going to have a deep backline and dazzle the crowds again. Good riddance to Anderson and his boring, dull, useless flat attack, and hello quality backline movements.

Welcome Wayne Bennett :)

Yer i think he will tend to favour qeensland players for the team It shouldn't be 50/50 it should be best man for the position. I agree with your team ? maybe Carlaw or Wing

thought Stuart was gonna get the job?

He still could. Bennett hasn't been appointed yet.

Stuart & Bennett are the 2 coaches who nominated. Bennett is likely to get more votes.

EnergyAustralia Stadium to host test match

Source :- Newcastle Knights

Monday, 23 February 2004

The ARL Board has today determined that the April Test against New Zealand will be played on April 23 at EnergyAustralia Stadium Newcastle.
The Australian Rugby League Board has also today appointed Wayne Bennett as coach of the Philips Kangaroos for the 2004 season.
Today's decision sees Mr Bennett take over as the Kangaroos embark on a new look international calendar which kicks off with this Test.
It also agreed to play the 2005 Test at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
"The 2004 Kangaroos Calendar is a real turning point for the international game," ARL Chairman Mr Colin Love said today.
"As well as the New Zealand Test, the Kangaroos will embark on the first of three Tri-Nations tournaments in the United Kingdom as we build towards a World Cup in Australia in 2008.
"We do this at a time when England has produced its strongest Test performances in many years and when an English team has scored a resounding win in the World Club Challenge.
"I would like to pay tribute to the contribution made by Chris Anderson who since 1999 has led Australia to 15 Test wins and displayed a tremendous commitment to the Kangaroos.
"The Australian coaching position is an annual appointment and we are privileged to have an array of people who feel passionately about coaching the side.
"Traditionally it is a role that has seen people moved in and out of the position often for more than one period as national coach.
"There is a strong argument in favour of ensuring that personnel changes are introduced to coincide with the changing directions of the international game.
"I congratulate Wayne on his appointment, he has a tough act to follow but I'm sure the Kangaroos will perform well under his guidance."
Wayne Bennett last coached Australia in 1998 and was undefeated in two Test matches.
His coaching career includes 5 premierships and four State of Origin Series victories and a State of Origin Series draw.
Chris Anderson had coached Australia from 1999 in 18 Test matches with a record of 15 Test wins and three losses.

Wonder if Alfie will make another comeback!?

Appointment confirmed.
Bennett is the new coach.

Awesome. Its good to have a change now. Opes was getting a bit stale.

The only problem now is that we'll see Neville Costigan and Corey Parker and Scott Minto wearing the Green & Gold now Bennett is in Charge.

And you people though Opes was Bias by picking Bailey...

Yeah, Anderson can now just fade away from league altogether...

Bennett will give up the Origin duties, and I'd say he'll pass on the Broncos in the next year or two as well.

But I think he'll make a good all round coach, and Kimmorley has played his last game for Australia

Guess we'd better hope nothing happens to Joey then, eh?
