Best 6 in the NBA

I was having a thought yesterday as I was watching Spurs vs OKC and in particular watching how great Ibaka & Perkins were playing. I have always thought Serge was under-rated but didn't expect that!

Anyway, it got me thinking about how stacked OKC actually are and if there are any teams that have a better starting line up and 6th man than them.

So which team has the best "Best 6 players" rotation in the NBA do you think?

Not talking 2-3 superstars and the rest scrubs...I mean overall best 6. Because I think OKC are most definitely in top 3, if not the best and who do you think isn't that far away?

OKC - PG - Westbrook, SG - Sefalosha, SF - Durant, PF - Ibaka, C - Perkins, 6th Man - Harden

BULLS - PG - Rose, SG - Hamilton, SF - Deng, PF - Boozer, C - Noah, 6th man - Gibson

HEAT - PG - Chalmbers, SG - Wade, SF - Battier, SF/PF - James, C - Bosh, 6th Man - Haslem

SPURS - PG - Parker, SG - Green, SF - Faried, PF - Diaw, C - Duncan, 6th Man - Ginobli (may not look good with SG, SF, PF but the depth outside of 6 make them good)

CELTICS - PG - Rondo, SG - Bradley, SF - Pierce, PF - Bass, C - Garnett, 6th Man - Allen

Who else?

In the future...

If the Cav's get Michael Kidd-Gilchrest in the draft and a shooter in FA, they have the potential to be handy.
PG - Irving, SG - Gibson, SF - Kidd-Gilchrest, PF - Thompson, C - Varejao, 6th man - ??

What about the Hornets?
PG - Jack, SG - Gordon, SF - Aminu, PF - Davis, C - Okafur, 6th man - Ariza
Building slowly....

The Timberwolves?
PG - Rubio, SG - Johnson, SF - Williams, PF - Love, C - Petkovic, 6th Man - Barea - Probably a genuine big man & growth from young guys away.

So who else stands out?

And then you go on to include Miami, who have 2 superstars, 1 borderline All-Star and a bunch of bit pieces. and scrubs.

Certainly the Thunder's top 6 is as good as any in the league, Spurs and Celtics would be up there, also throw in the Sixers (Jrue-Lou-Iggy-Brand-Hawes-Young is pretty damn good). No team with Boozer the Loser qualifies for mine.

Dude...I was providing examples...I don't rate Miami's 6.

For mine it is OKC, Bulls & Spurs 1-2-3.

While Bulls have Boozer...he'd be the 6th best there imo. I think they trade him and give up a 1st to get rid of him.

If you don't rate them, why include them?

Because I knew other people would and I was providing examples dickhead. It's called information for people to make a decision and to start discussion. And the fact that they are the teams remaining in the play-offs and one who was the best team in the NBA before the Rose injury....

FFS can't even have a discussion without Miami bagging and bagging a concept.

Now I know why I stayed away from this part of the forum for a while. Just full of hate...ridiculous.

So you're providing an example of a team with a top 6-man rotation, but you don't rate them. Sounds like you're a touch confused.

Nothing wrong with that - nothing wrong with disagreeing with you either diddums.

I didn't bag the concept, nobody has. Mentioned a few teams in response to your original post but also said I wouldn't include Miami, and didn't "bag" them. No need for the waterworks.

Not confused. I made clear who my top 3 were in the next post after providing examples.

You are confused with the concept of providing examples to start discussion by the looks of things. You say "there is nothing wrong with that" in provides examples then say I'm confused?...ok.

In the next post - that would be the post after mine where I pointed out how stupid including the Heat was, right!

I'm not even sure where to start with that train-wreck of a comment.

But let's see if I've got this right (heavily condensed version):

Your Post 1 - Here are examples of teams with top 6 man core
My Post 1 - Heat don't belong on that list
Your Post 2 - I don't rate them, but they're an example
My Post 2 - So why include them if you don't rate them
Your Post 3 - Because they're an example and they're in the playoffs. Also I have my period and feel like having a tanty

So they're an example of a team with a top 6 man core, but they don't actually have a top 6 man core (on which we both agree). You're right, this is confusing.

I think the Cavs still need a bit of luck over the next few years.

Although if they pick up Beal or MKG, and then somehow suck enough to get a top 5 pick next year, they will be shaping up nicely for a deep playoff run in about 3 or so years time. I think AV will get dealt in the next few years, so a lot will depend on what they get for him also.

They'll struggle to add elite talent through FA without overpaying, so it will depend on smart drafting. They have stockpiled a tonne of 1st round picks over the next few years (a lot dependent on results of other teams), so if they draft wisely, they could have a very good 3 or 4 players + great young depth down to about 8 or 9.

And in relation to the topic, OKC not only has the best top 6 IMO, they are the youngest by a fair margin. Although they'll struggle to keep them all together.
