 I think it's their weakest. I'm hoping for a return to form soon.
it's definately better than being there

ghost makes yankee look bland in comparison

Radiohead = meh...

The Bends was alright. I haven't heard anything since...

Thom Yorke just gives me the sh*ts or some reason...

Yankee is bland? I doubt it. Yankee is full of brilliant songwriting. Ghost is incredibly self indulgent and while it might work live, it gets boring quickly recorded. There are some cool songs (I'm A Wheel, Theologians, Handshake Drugs, Least Thats What You Said), however the white noise is pointless and the dozen instrumentals in Spiders is probably 10 too many.

Radiohead - The Bends > Hail To The Thief > Kid A > OK Computer > Amnesiac > Pablo Honey.

no. more bland than ghost? yes

oddly, i find the best tracks on the albums ones you haven't listed: muzzle of bees and humming bird. spiders is freakishly brilliant, especially when the guitar slams in. perhaps our different opinions can be put down to my superior taste, which is highlighted by my preference of ok computer. btw yes i'm just being annoying now

I'm really surprised you list that.

As a big Wilco fan, who prefers their alt.country stuff but grew to love YHF, I really think AGIB steps over the line into indulgence a few times.

If I wanted to listen to white noise for 10 minutes, I'd start a conversation with my wife.

I'm a massive fan of Jim O'Rourke's production and solo stuff and that's what drew me to this album in the first place. I'm a bit of a self-indulgent, feedback man myself so that stuff doesn't worry me although the I must agree the album could have done without that 15 minute track.

Muzzle of Bees and Wishful Thinking are beautiful songs, while handshake drugs and I'm a wheel are toe tappers at their best. And you can't go past Spiders for a repetitive, discordinant bliss! I love that song.

I am now in the process of seeing what the rest of Tweedy's work offers.

There is nothing on either Being There or Ghost as good as the likes of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Jesus Etc, I'm The Man That Loves You, or Poor Places. It is the stunning lyrics as well as the beautiful music that makes Yankee so freaking brilliant. It wins hands down boys :)

It is refreshing to be debating which Wilco album is the best on a footy forum tho :)

anyway alex, how is ghost "incredibly self indulgent"?

anyway, both ghost and yankee would make my top 20. summerteeth wouldn't be too far behind

10 minutes of white noise dude! 10 minutes! that could have been two actual songs! and while i like Spiders, and the riff is a cool little riff - it gets tiresome and repetitive quickly.

there is a fine line between brilliance and filler - Ghost has a bit too much filler for my liking...
