Priddis is the clear number 1 for me across a whole 80mins.
Walsh and Cleary incredible but the opposition wasn't the same level imo.

The 03 grand final was played in a swamp. This was a benefit to the Roosters, whose ironclad defense was up against Penriths free flowing footy. Points were at an absolute premium. He scored a try and laid on 2 more.

And made about 50 tackles as well.

Walsh was out of position for the kick try, missed a tackle for another try, didn’t even try to tackle Hughes when he scored and was late to get there for the last try.

Cleary 15-20 were elite but the Panthers could (and probably should) have been out of sight not 3 tries down. Still, an incredible comeback.

His was a courageous effort, but in terms of impact on the game, he wasn’t even the best Burgess on the field. George was the best player on the park that day, he should have won the CC.
Sam got it because of his profile and the injury - but George’s output was better.

Agree completely with all of this.

I had also backed Lewis, so got a tidy return and wasn’t complaining, Lewy was terrific (not sure I can remember him ever having bad games to be fair), but Fifita was head and shoulders above everyone that day - he was the difference.

Cleary deserves massive credit for the clutchest 20 minutes of all time, but that was in a game where his team were losing 24-8 after 60 minutes despite dominating a lot of the game to that point. This means that through 60 minutes their lead playmaker had woefully failed to turn territory and possession into points.

Funnily enough this was also true of the 2021 Grand Final where Cleary basically watched Walker set up all the tries for both teams and somehow got the CC (still not as bad as JT winning in 2015, but it’s up there).

Thurston was arguably the worst player on the field for the 80. The field goal was clutch but that’s all he did. Even the match winning try was all Morgan and the Donkeys shitting themselves

there isn’t a roosters fan living or dead who’d agree with you that the rain was to our benefit. The 2000-2004 roosters were atrocious in the wet

I raise you DCE in 2013 whose team was outplayed 18-0 in the last 25 minutes.

JT was an atrocious call though and that was ironically one where it should have gone to a losing player.

Fifita was best in 2016 but Lewis was awesome too so that one doesn't come close to JT.

Penrith fans trying to convince us the chin in 2023 was better than Walsh in 2025 is hilarious.

Walsh was better for longer and kept Brisbane in the game in the 1st half.

The other one many have mentioned in Keary 2018 is hard to compare with those 2 as Keary dominated from minute 1 and put the game to bed by the 25 minute mark. The other 2 led comebacks so very different scenarios/performances.
