thanks for the recognition of the Blues, Rockabilly and Rock n Roll Cats, in this thread, i know that they will not win as these forms of music are pretty obscure.....but man it is nice to see some sweeeeeeetttt photos of the guitarists that play the music that i listen to, even if only one person on this here board gets their curiosity peaked and checks them out, and says man oh man this sh*t is pretty good, to me that would be satisfying

thanks

Mark

Mikael Akerfeldt easily has the most talent in that list, but because of his music style will never get the recognition.

I want to have his babies. His and Eric Clapton's. Which reminds me - why is there is distinct lack of The God himself, Mr. Eric Clapton, in all these polls? :fist:

Bacause there's still 7 polls after this one. He's overrated at any rate.

I think Claptons best trait was that he was very influential, people wanted to play like him...and the likes of Eddie etc did but brought it too a new level, the same applies to Hendrix, however we haven't seen any guitarist in the last 20 years take it one step better and until then you'll know who will win my vote all the time.

These polls should have a ''how to vote '' scale.
I do a bit of judging in surfing comps and they have a scale that you can follow to help make it fair across the board.

Van Halen for example.
He is obviously an exceptional talent but Angus has written more memorable 3 chord riffs than all of EVH's diddly diddly solos put together.
The question is what makes one better than the other?
Classis guitar based song writing or sheer blur of notes?

Not sure when EVH has ever been a blur of notes, but anyway ... which one has influenced more guitarists Carch?

Bith have influenced plenty but EVH made a massive difference. Wasn't felt as much in Oz but was absolutely huge overseas.

so Dev due to ACDC being bigger in more country's than VH does that make them better?

There are too many diff things to take into account.

Angus wrote way more popular songs...that would mean to me he is better.

Guitar solo's are not the be all and end all of the instrument.
VH filled a lot of the records with covers.

what is that telling me...VH didn't have enough material for one lousy record?

Who was more influential on guitarists Carch? And you know that popularity means nothing when it comes to who is 'better' than someone else.

You're kidding:lol:

VH used a number of covers, but how many albums did they realise?. VH only done covers after scoring a smash hit with 'you really got me' so they continued with it but later on stopped once Hagar was brought in. I think you'll also find that DLR wa sthe guy behind it all, read his biography.

As for riffs? please listen to the first album, knock yourself out:lol:

Exactly, Angus guitar didn't influence a generation and made the guitar a better instrument, he brought nothing new to it, EVH did and that has been well-documented.

who ?

Angus for me....easily.

I could learn his songs virtually from the beginning.

great, easily recognizable , classic rythms with legendary guitar solo's thrown in for good measure.
Angus not only out riffs VH , He out wrote , he out sold , out performed ...and no doubt will out last .
Angus is ACDC.

EVH is a washed up one trick pony.

ACDC were bigger owever eddie has sold more music books and influenced then Angus.

Guitar solos are the most complex pieces to play on the guitar, chords can be learnt overnight, solos like Eruption many 30 year + players still cant play and never will.
