Best Seinfeld Episode

How soon we forget....

I'd like to revise my earlier comments after hearing from MM...

The "not that there's anything wrong with that" episode was a dead set killer! No that I come to think of it, I would also be remiss to leave out the ripper episode in which that wealthy guy mistook Kramer for an intellectually challenged person :)

I didn't think the final two seasons were overly terrible, although it is true that they struggled to meet the highstandards set across earlier seasons. By the same token, you'd be hard pressed to find many (if any) shows going as strong in the 9th season as they were in the first few...

Marcus, the Drew Carrey hosted "Whose Line is it Anyway?" was actually copied from the British series of the same name. The Britishversion is for mine slightly funnier, although there isn't too much between them, some of the Americans even appeared on the British version.

How come nobody has come up with 'The Contest' far and away the best Seinfeld episode. Was it shown in Australia? Scenes I also have enjoyed: JFK like description of Kramer and Newman getting spat on by Keith Hernandez, and Kramer describingdriving the bus while fighting off hijackers.

Good call on the JFK episode. Very funny indeed. I also liked the one where Jerry is dating Teri Hatcher and Elain tells Jerry she has fake breasts so Jerry gets Elaine to find out. In the same episode Kramer thinks the guy in the sauna is Salman Rushdie.

There was also the Van Buren boys episode which was a hoot.

The Soup Nazi episode is a classic. I understand it was based on a real guy who owns a shop near the Ed Sullivan theatre. Also, the one where George used a deaf linesman to read his ex-girlfriends lips. Classic

I know it's not new, and not a tv series, but I recently saw This is Spinal Tap and found it one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The Stonehenge scene was one of many brilliant ones. I found the humour subtle and understated, same as the Larry Sanders show, more sophisticated somehow than Seinfeld and Frasier, though they are quite good.

Steve, if you like Spinal Tap, then rent "Best in Show" and "Waiting for Guffman". Both films done by the same crowd. IMO Best in Show is on par with Spinal Tap, while Waiting for Guffman is funny but not as hilarious as the other two. If you didn't know an interesting feature of all three movies is that there was no script with most scenes being improvised by the actors.

JoeD, totally agree with you on Spinal Tap, Guffman, and Best in Show.Christopher Guest in particular is a genius (he co starred in Tap and wrote/directed/sarred in the other two).
By the way I think The Office is the best new comedy in ages; I really like the fact that the whole thing is played absolutely straight, there's no canned laughter, nothing is hammed up for a laught at all.

I've got all 3 on DVD and there is so much extra material available they could have made 3 more movies. Agree, Guest is a genius, I just can't wait till the make another one.
