It's hard to split Forest Gump, Almost Famous and School of Rock. All 3 soundtracks have all the great old school sounds, none of the sh*t we've had to put up with post 1995.

* Singles - Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Smashing Pumpkins all in their prime.
* High Fidelity - Kinks, Velvet Underground, Dylan mixed with Beta Band, Stereolab, plus "Cold Blooded Old Times" by Smog, and "Lets Get It On" by Jack Black when he was a half decent actor and not a knob.
* Garden State - The Shins and Iron & Wine - enough said.

another great Australian soundtrack was "Blackrock" - so many great tracks...

Lost in Translation.

My 3 favourite films of the last few years, and the music had a definite role to play.

Eternal Sunshine, Jon Brion Isnt it? I think he did the "I Heart Huckabees" soundtrack aswell, liked both. You have a great taste in films aswell

Those 3 films rule. That Beck song in Eternal Sunshine helped make that movie the brilliant film that it is...

Yep

He's a good friend of the excellent Aimee Mann, who also did the very good Magnolia "song" soundtrack. He did the "orchestral" soundtrack, and the same for Punch Drunk Love.

He did an album in a band called The Grays which also featured Jason Falkner and another guy from Jellyfish which is very good. Hard to find in Sydney though.
