Brisbane - 3 GFs, 3 Premierships.
Manly - 4 GFs, 2 Premierships.
Melbourne - 5 GFs, 4 Premierships** (* for 2 Premierships), 4 MPs*** (* for 3 MPs)
Sydney - 6 GFs, 2 Premierships, 2 MPs

Either Broncos or Roosters.

Depends on how you measure success. The Broncos have 3 Premierships, the most, but nothing else. And in terms of statistical spread two of those were in the first three years and only one GF from 1 GF appearance since.

Or you have the Roosters who have one less Premiership, but an extra 3 GF appearances plus 2 Minor Premierships. GF appearances in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010 and 2013. That's tremendous consistency over time.

Ultimately you'd have to say Brisbane because if you're not first you might as well be last.

Wooden spoons throw your consistency claims out. Consistency would be Manly or Brisbane making consecutive finals series' over a long period.

*wooden spoon*

Plural implies more than one.

And im referring to consistency of success over time. Sure there's a wooden spoon in there, but at least we followed it up with a GF appearance. Manly did nothing for the first 6/7 years of the NRL so I wouldn't put them on the Roosters level. Less GF appearances and Minor Prems as well. And less finals appearances.

Manly imo.
2 premierships, 4 appearences, record GF win, how many top 4 spots? and when was the last time they missed the 8?

Manly have been the most dominate side (Melbourne aside who are DQ'd for obvious reasons) since 1998

Also less existance, there was no Manly in 2000-2002. Hard to win anything in year's when you don't have a team. Yet despite that, Manly have still made the finals 10 times out of 13. Add to that they were beaten in 2007 by a team that was a million dollars over the cap, they were also knocked out of the finals in 2009 by that same team.

Brisbane has made the finals all but twice in that period and has the most Premierships.

It would probably be Melbourne if they hadn't cheated but they shouldn't even rate.

I include the Northern Eagles as Manly.

To not do so is a very convenient way to overlook the fact they had a few very average seasons.

The facts dont lie: more GFs, more Minor Premierships, perhaps more top 4 spots. Clearly the second most successful behind Brisbane

But players don't play better because they're being paid more!!

(can't believe this was actually some Storm supporters defence of the cheating - hi Butters.)

So you think Adam Muir, Jason Taylor, etc would look back as having played for Manly? Do you really think the fact Manly went from 3 consecutive grand finals in 95-97 and into 9 consecutive finals series' from 2005 but the period in between was unaffected by the debacle that was the Northern Eagles? The shitstain of a club that was the Bears compromised the Manly club and the years of the joint venture should not be seen as a reflection of Manly.

So Steve menzies was a 2 club player?

Not including that period in your analysis is ridiculous.

Since the inaugural NRL season in '98 Melbourne have won the Shield 4 times, double that of anyone else . . . since that's all I care about and dismiss Gallop's cap bullshit I revel in being part of the minority view

No. Just, no.

Besides, I never knew 4 was double that of 3. Interesting math. Maybe that's why you don't care for cap cheating.
