Easts 1935:

Played 16: Won 15, Lost 1

For: 599 (37.44 p.g.)

Against: 157 (9.81 p.g.)

Differential: + 442.

How do the others compare?

The 1925 Souths teams were a perfect 12/12.

The 1959 Dragons team Won 17, drew 1 from 18 games.

Easts 1935 set lots of records. Then in 1936 and 1937 we were unbeaten!!! That's impressive.

Anyway, I think Tommy was referring to points scored/conceded when he declared the 1935 side was supreme

Dragons '59
+550, -190. F/A 360 18 games. average +30.5, -10.5

Souffs '25
+190, -87. 12 games. average +15.8, -7.3

So Easts '35 cream both these teams in terms of attack (37.4 compared to 30.5 and 15.8), but souffs in 25 had marginally better defence.

So Tommy's claim about the 1935 side holds true. Sure souffs let in 2 less points a game in 1925, but we scored over 20 more points a game than that team

Why are people discussing teams of the 20s, 30s and 50s in a thread specifically about the NRL (1998-2013)?

The 1908 University team were pretty awesome. Let's put things into perspective here, they had to not only play footy but they had to study and earn a living. What a team.

We have no reason to live in the past.

Souffs last Premiership (looks pretty recent):

Good question.

The Wizard of Oz (1939) was half made in colour and that was made 3/4 years before Souffs last comp, or thereabouts. So no excuse for a lack of colour pics.

I include the Northern Eagles as Manly.

To not do so is a very convenient way to overlook the fact they had a few very average seasons.

The facts dont lie: more GFs, more Minor Premierships, perhaps more top 4 spots. Clearly the second most successful behind Brisbane

Northern Eagles aren't manly, everything you say past that is ignored as you're an imbecile
