If you can do that, you should be able to stand on the other side of the rope and jump in the air and flick it back in to another fielder

Same thing

They'll change that rule, it just looked farcical, the kind of thing you laugh at "yeah right, that can't be out", then it's out

As far as the Heat goes, probably a swings and roundabouts situation after the Thunder had a ball change in the 19th over

I feel like that rule was written before boundaries were brought in when the boundary was the fence, not a rope 10m in from the fence.

Would have thought that rule was brought in after boundary ropes were a thing

I could be wrong but would it even be in the rule book if there is a fence (or pre boundary rope days)? Impossible to do what Nesser did or anyone else if a fence was there

I dont have a problem with it, adds to the theatre since we are missing the boost point, and x-factor players like The Wizard 🧙‍♂️ and Clive 🌹

Pretty sure it's a newish rule. I remember there being questions about exactly that catch when it came in.

Dumb as f**k

You could remove the ropes and players could mount the boundary fence and jump off it superman style to take the catch. Would be very impressive to watch and the type of innovation that t20 needs.

Incorrect. That would be six. He’s touching the boundary (fence). The boundary begins on the ground (the white line). Anything on the line (rope, Toblerone, fence) becomes an extension of the boundary line … hence why it’s a six when it hits the Toblerone on the full.

but… the Superman affect would make good TV. The dicks in commentary could call it a ‘Super’ if caught or a ‘Super 6’ if not caught.
I’m surprised they haven’t started counting crowd catches as a dismissal or 5 runs off at a minimum 🤣🤣

Off topic but a rule I’d like to see is the ball must hit the boundary. If a diving/sliding fielder sandwiches between boundary and ball and brushes it back whilst touching line it’s not a 4. Reward’s desperation fielding imho.

Well I'm saying beforehand he does what Neser did. Throws the ball sky high. Then he mounts the boundary fence and flies back in to take the catch. No different to having his foot behind the boundary rope like last night right?

Yes it sounds even better than the old ING 50k signs.

Seriously rules like that Neser took advantage of are just nonsense. You wonder who came up with them and whether they actually know anything about the game tbh...if you can't control the catch in the field of play and you run over the rope, it's six. This is exactly the same just more convoluted

Wasn't it brought in just for the T20 crowd ?

It applies to all forms of the game but they wanted to encourage shit like that to bring the crowds in.

Dumb rule.

Im a Brisbane Heat fan and admit that its a dumb rule.....should be removed immediately.

Me too, at the time I just thought there's no way that can be out, we will see worse examples in the future for sure, now the cat is out of the bag

feel like it would be a situation where a player takes the catch and is going to hit a fence so they can toss the ball up to do so.

to me either it’s a 6 when it breaks the plane (very hard to rule on) or a fielder has to jump from inside the rope to be able to juggle it. Boggles the mind that a call like that can be out - and a fielder could juggle it like that 4 times and keep it in play. Don’t think it impacted the outcome though.
