What a f**ken insane chase. Mental.

The Canes choked but the Strikers made them. Matt Short has quietly become an absolute gun.
Funnily enough his career has flipped with another Short (Darcy). Matt Shorts gone from meh to a gun, Darcy Short went from the best bat in the comp to a pleb. Couldn’t even make the Canes 11 for this game.

Darcy had the one good season, failed in higher honors and has been going downhill ever since. Always been a basher. This Matt Short seems to have a few gears in his batting. I hope he gets a shot for Australia at some point.

I feel like Darcy was a decent cricketer who had a stellar season off the momentum of Wade/McDermott one time, and then got pigeonholed as a 'Bash Brother'. Sort of like Lynn, tbh.

That got him an IPL deal or two where he didn't live up to the hype and he's never been the same since

In reality he's a bat that needs to build into an innings, but he's got himself all f**ked up and just tries to slog his way back into that place again.

Darcy averaged over 50 in 17/18 and 18/19, he was consistently the best bat in the comp imo. Even before coming into this season his average was still only a tick under 40, which goes to show how good he was because I agree when given a shot for Aus he failed and then since his form has fallen off a cliff.

I think you are forgetting how good he was for those couple of seasons, 18/19 the Canes should have shit in the comp but choked late. Short and Wade were untouchable opening (Darcy being the chief destroyer).

But yeh his failures in the IPL and Aus has rocked his confidence. You can literally see him battling with himself when he’s in the middle, it’s quite sad.

Nah I also agree he was a legit weapon, I just feel like the confluence of him and Admiral Pumpkin both being in career best form gave him the momentum he needed to start hard, rather than building to it.

He's always been a quality ball striker, but that season or so the way the Canes started gave him a kickstart he hasn't got since, and I think he's struggled with that and his failures in other competitions. Especially the IPL, which is so ruthless. They never would have even given him the option to go sort of start again and build into the competition the way he probably needed.

The split screen - on one side it looks like Silk hits it, the other side has him a foot away from the ball. Not sure what’s going on there. Silk walking off seemed to think he missed it by a mile.
