Bigger Crowd?: WT vs StGeoIlla or Soccer GF

Just wondering who is likely to get the larger crowd, we know the A-League Grand Final is a sell out so they'll get 40,000 at Aussie Stadium. But the first NRL game between the reigning premiers & the perennial premiership favourites should draw well too. I am hoping for at least 40000 at Telstra next Friday.

This may seem like a strange thread but I know there have been similar ones making comparisons to the Sydney Swans when they've played at Telstra so I thought some of the probability experts amongst us may have some interesting thoughts.

Tickets for the Soccer GF range from $30 to $60 for an adult.

Tickets for the Tigers vs Dragons round 1 clash range from $20 to $33 for an adult. (source: Ticketek)

Do the bays in white mean no one is allowed to sit there?

129-133 Bays on the Western side are X-Seats and corporate open boxes
106-110 Bays on the Eastern Side are corporate open boxes
Level 3 is corporate seats
Level 6 on both sides are noise bleed seats and usually don’t go on sale until the bottom bowl (Levels 1 & 2) are sold out.
317-321 was installed for future cricket matches and would fall into the same category as Level 6

Demand has out stripped supply for the A-League Grand Final, the comparision is inequitable. Tickets are going for $350+ on ebay. Im certain the game on Sunday could of got a crowd as high as 60,000 if played at Telstra.

In any case I think we all know which game will have the better atmosphere.

Bah....If I wanna hear tools singing bad songs Id go to the church choir.....

And the Saints v Tigers game last year the atmosphere was AWESOME,I know which game Id rather be at.The one where the game is ON the field, not the one where it is off the field cos the onfield is zzzzzzzz.

33105 came to the equivalent game last year (Dogs-Dragons)

Last year 30,000 of them were Bulldog supporters!!! The St George Illawarra supporters boycotted last years game in big numbers in protest over the proposal to make Telstra their home game...

Let's hope they come out in huge numbers on Friday night!

As much as i hate to admit it the atmosphere at the A league GF will be greater then that at the footy. The Socceroos match was the greatest atmosphere i have EVER and proabably EVER will experience. Simply cant even compare it.

Soccer atmospheres are generally the best sporting atmosphere to be at. I can openly admit that.

I guess it makes up for the distinct lack of action on the field.

as others have said
atmosphere may be good
but having action on the field is a million times better

the comparison in this thread is between a GF and a round 1 clash of a 6 month season .

a better comparison is when the Tigers met the dragons in last years finals , Aussie Stadium was also sold out and tickets were being sold for mega bucks on ebay . Telstra Stadium would have sold out for that game .

The a-league needs better marketing IMO. FFS, last years national competition grand final (think it was Perth vs Olympic) was being played on free to air and i cant even remember the last time i saw an A-league commercial on tv. Give the league more time and the crowds will come...
