How has the World Cup never been called "League of Nations"?!?!?!

Its such an obvious name for the concept and it would get us away from confusion with the RWC.

Just a thought...

You cannot beat original and simple: WORLD CUP.

Anything else is just gimmicky American-style crap which I'm not a huge fan of.

Those with a sense of history will remember the epic match Italy vs. Ethiopia at the League of Nations of 1937.

Yes the Ethiopians had no defence against the Italian bombs but in the end it was weak referreing by Mr Hore (England) and M. Laval (France) that allowed the Italians to steal the match.

Not a bad tag line for the WC, like RU's "the world in union".

Rugby League World Cup - "The League of Nations"
