Lol wb claims he always knew and believed it would be this stadium getting the upgrade, but a simple search of 'Hubert' or 'SHMS' in this thread shows up exactly 0 results before today.

seems to be the nrls plan wa sto have them in cairns so they could at least try and get a team together, cowboys have told them to to get fcked, nrl is now scrambling around trying to figure out how to base them in PNG and still be able to put a team together. Deary me. Can you imagine the clamour if the govt give millionaire sports people a tax break during this current cost of living crisis? Might as well sign their own unemployment forms for next election!

There is no link as there is no planned upgrade, at least that’s been made publicly available. He’s going off a second phase option that was mooted when the stadium was last upgraded a decade ago at a cost of $83millin, but so far there’s no funding commitment from anyone to do it. He’s even got that wrong though as the second phase was for 10k extra seats not 15k lol

And it is less than 5 minutes walk from my office complex.

I don't mind either one but as some have mentioned here already it is to upgrades on SHMS than to Santos and for me it's so closed to the office I can park there and just stroll across.

But this announcement has definitely caught many here by surprise as well because this Stadium is hardly ever used by the PNGRFL even for Digicel Cup matches. And it actually houses the Head Office for PNG Rugby Union. They must be feeling pissed off at this announcement that they will have to move out.
