Bittersweet Songs

First of all, a definition:

Bittersweet: (adjective) Producing or expressing a mixture of pain and pleasure. Tinged with sadness. i.e. "A movie with a bittersweet ending".

Now, I'm looking to compile a CD of bittersweet songs. Ones that have a sweetness but are still sad.

So far the number one, for me, is John Mayer's 'Comfortable'. Can anyone help me out with a few more?

Sheesh, nice list Azkatro. Forgot about Both Sides Now. Have you heard the slower, more mature version from the Love, Actually soundtrack? Really painful, in a good way.

anyone who likes john mayer is beyond help tbh

I could say the same of you and PJ Marshal :p

Will have to check out a few of those Sundown. Brick, Bittersweet Symphony, and She Will Be Loved are definitely on my list already. Purple Rain is great too. Will have to track down the remainder. I usually like Frou Frou's stuff.

Beck - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime

Beck did a cover of that? Nice! I've got the original one by The Korgis, but hadn't heard about any other covers aside from Jon Brion.

The Beck cover is much more meloncolic than the Korgis version. I have both and the Korgis version is practically bright by comparison.

The Beck version was use in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
