Well, I enjoyed the new season. Not quite as much as previous seasons, but it was still pretty good.

The events in Smithereens could happen today. There was a lot going on in this episode that should provoke discussion about the effect social media has on our lives, how much information these companies are able to amass about individuals and what they do with it, but I think it will end up being underappreciated.

Striking Vipers was excellent.

Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too covered a bit of familiar ground with another "cookie" scenario and was the weakest of the three. The portrayal of the music industry was probably a little too cynical. The Nine Inch Nails covers by Miley Cyrus were an interesting touch.

I enjoyed all three with smithereens being an excellent, old-school Black mirror type episode that, for mine, is extremely relevant today.

Striking Vipers was very interesting.

The Ashley one I found entertaining but I didn't see where it was going at first. I thought for sure they were going for a Google home/Alexa social commentary but it went a completely different direction that honestly just made me laugh and go wtf but I still found it entertaining and silly. Bit of a nosedive vibe.

On second viewing I caught something I'd missed the first time around. It's set in 2018, which I'm pretty sure is the first Black Mirror episode set in the (albeit near) past. It's now easily one of my favourite episodes of the entire series. The people writing it off as a PSA about not using your phone while driving are really missing the point.

Agreed and there is a lot more to it than just that.

It had commentary on all forms of social media use and also the access to data said companies have which I believe wasn't far from the truth.

Enjoyed the new season but no real hard-hitting episodes.

The virtual porn impacting real intimacy theme I think is important but was overshadowed by the are they aren’t they gay thing.

Second episode was great contemporary cautionary tale which didn’t need any big twist.

Third episode started out great until it got ridiculous halfway through. Would have been good if it kept on the same path about celebrity worship and dodgy entertainment industry practices. But it went too far.
