It's kinda like The Twilight Zone. Each episode is stand alone with different actors and storylines and is speculative fiction focusing on near future situations involving pervasive technologies. The series was created by Charlie Brooker who is well known UK media critic.I'm looking for something new to binge watch. Can someone enlighten me as to what this is about please ?
Just got through the first episode, Nosedive. The satire is sharp and on point. A society that rewards people based on their social media ratings, with every interaction that people have with one another fake as f**k with the objective purely about getting the best rating possible.
f**k I love this show.
That's almost exactly the same. The only difference in the episode is that people rate each other. Talk to the wrong person, get rated down. Blow smoke up someone's ass, get rated up.I've only seen season 1, and it was great, so I'll have to catch up.
But the episode you've described there sounds eerily similar to this article I read yesterday:
China’s plan to organize its society relies on ‘big data’ to rate everyone
If you like Westworld you'll like Black Mirror.Okay, you've talked me into it. Will start it this week.

Looked in catchup on foxtel and couldn't find it. Who has the rights? If you like Westworld you'll like Black Mirror.
Netflix.Looked in catchup on foxtel and couldn't find it. Who has the rights?
The media didn't miss the connection either. One of the articles I saw about what was happening in China used an image from that same episode of Black Mirror.Ha well there you go. Pretty spooky and disturbing.
I loved the ep from season 1 where everyone has the implanted chip that records 24/7. Can totally see that too becoming reality sooner rather than later, and can totally see people driving themselves batshit insane by obsessing over playback moments.
Waiting for the right mindset to watch season 3, it's not a show you can enter into lightly, hopefully I can get through some this weekend. It saddens me how few people watch this show.
