Blair: I need to lift my game

Wests Tigers back-rower Adam Blair admits his critics have a point and he must lift his performances for the battling joint venture.

Blair, a big-money signing from Melbourne last year, has come under-fire recently with critics including former international and media personality Gorden Tallis accusing him of not having a go.

The Tigers meet NRL leaders South Sydney on Friday night at ANZ Stadium and go into the match on the back of six consecutive defeats.

New Zealand Test player Blair, who is a deadly edge runner on his day, admitted on Tuesday he can do better.

"Everyone knows what I can bring and how I can play. I'm just not doing that enough for the team at the moment and for the people that want to see me do better for the team," Blair said.

"All the little things, I think I do really well for the team - kick pressure, cleaning up the tackles. I think I do those really well.

"I think my attack is a little bit off at the moment but, once I fix that up, I think everyone will quieten up a bit."

Blair sees Tallis's criticism as a challenge for him to prove the former star wrong.

"I think Gordie knows what I can bring and I think I've got to take that as a good thing that he obviously knows what I've done before and how I can play," he said.

"I think it's a bit of a challenge for myself to keep people like that quiet and prove everyone wrong."

The 2008 World Cup winner insists the Tigers can't be bashful against the Rabbitohs and have to get in their faces otherwise they'll be in for a long night.

"We've got to take the game to them and turn up with the right attitude and play some footy," he said.

"We can't let their forwards get a roll on like they have been."

Have heard this from Bleh before.

It's about time he f**king delivered already.

His defence is pathetic and his attack is scarce.

He, like Benji, needs to take the line on with some aggression and intent.

Nah.

He should just play his last two seasons for free.

I can stomach him being paid 250k a year and playing this shit a hell of a lot more than knowing he's playing like this on around half a mill per year

Yet another Tigers player telling us all how he needs to lift. Instead of talking to the press, how about you just get out there and do it, for f**ks sake?

I'm sick of hearing this shit from him. His statistics are actually not incredibly bad but when players like Pettyborne are putting in more value he needs to get his shit sorted.

When was the last time anyone said "Blair had a blinder of a game?". He better put in some effort against Souths or I'm done giving him chances

Who does this guy play for?

Dunno.....I see him now and then, and hear his name mentioned a few times during broadcasts

I think its like that bug @ NRL.com a few years back that had us having some mystery player all season in the team lists stats sheet that had 0 tackles, 0 hit ups, 0 errors etc etc

He belted Robson late at one stage last week. That was the only time I noticed him on the pitch until he was being booed up the tunnel.

Blair is the next 'most likely' to be tapped on the shoulder by Potter to sit on the bench. He is an embarrasment to our club, himself, the goose that came up with the idea to sign him and the clown that gave the ok to waste 500k a year.

I agree. There are massive attitude issues at this club. When a player such as Blair misses a tackle or BMM drop a ball. You never see them make up for it with a big hut up or smashing tackle. They just skulk into the background. I hope they don't get rid of Potter. They need to start looking at off loading some of the players.

Translation: I won't put in the hard yards or first contact in defence - I might get hurt!
