Blair - Sheens says its cool

Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens has defended criticism of second-rower Adam Blair, saying he is more than happy what the Kiwi international has produced at his new Club.

The former Storm forward was the Wests Tigers major signing for 2012 and has come under some unfair criticism according to Sheens.

“I think Adam is progressing really well. He is a second-rower, not a half-back. Some of the so called criticism are from people who really don’t know what they are talking about,’’ Sheens said.

“His defence has been great and his work rate is there. He is playing 80 minutes. He played busted two weeks back (with a cork) and wouldn’t stand down (despite the option).

“He is trying to do his best for the team and he has fitted in very well within the group. His ball skill ability will come to the fore more and more and I think he is just settling down. He has only played 6 games for the Club.

I get pissed when Bug and others give it to Sheens for stupid stuff. As I have said before the guy puts his foot in it without any stupid criticism from us fans.

Blair has been shithouse. I hope he improves and I have absolutely nothing against him.

What do you expect him to say in public?

Yeah - the guy cost a fortune and up until now he's been shit, but we are going to still play him because we have a policy of picking our team based on player salary and whether he's injured or not?

I defy anyone to find any manager complain openly about any staff member publicly.

I don't know what I expect but I'd like to see Blair playing well and Sheens shutting the f**k up when it comes to his performance or maybe being a little more honest.

How about "well he is really putting in and has played busted for us but we need to get more out of him".

 Sheens sounding very paranoid lately, first its ''so- called fans'' and now criticism from people who really don’t know what they are talking about,’’

Tim, maybe you should learn a lesson from Jack Gibson ..."If you start listening to the fans you'll soon be sitting with 'em"

Pressure must be gettin toTim....theyre out to get him

“Gareth Ellis was 12 months before he found his feet. I’m not asking anything from Blairy other than to do his job. So far I am happy with what we are seeing. He is not the issue in our football team at the moment.”
Gaz was great almost from day dot....bullshit artist!

The comment regarding Ellis is laughable. The guy came in and killed them straight away. He was in the top echelon of players in the backrow from the start.

Comparing Ellis to Blair is dumb.

Geez I hope today that Blair has a blinder though. To make it even better I'd love to see him having blinders for the rest of the season.

I'm not prepared to slay Blair yet as the team has been piss weak in alot of areas. He stands out because of his price tag but I doubt he's really been our worst. The guy is used to playing for Melbourne, something our team is far from. In actual fact how the hell we were seen as preseason favourites over the Storm I will never get!!

Does any one know if Sheens wears glasses?if he does he should wear them more often. He stated how well Rowdy went last week against Brisbane,if missing tackles and being lifeless in attack deserves credit
from the coach, what hope have we got if Sheens is in denial of our problems.

So to take Sheens comment to its logical end- its ok to pay a international standard player about $500k p.a for a 3 year contract and not expect top line performance for the first season?

OK, a few games to settle in- isnt that basically what pre-season games are for? To not expect fans, the clubs managemetn and let alone his team mates to think he should be performing well and soon is stupid and demeaning of everyone that is putting in the effort both on the field and supporting the team.

Again, another Teflon moment that I bet no-one will peg him on.

I know it was poor opposition, but I thought he looked good today. Poked his head through the line a few times, scored a try, was strong in defence. Still lots of improvement to come, but he's definitely getting better.

Agreed, slowly getting better and more involved.

Blair has consistently poked his head through the line and off-loaded...........when he freaking runs the ball. His work-rate is fairly low but the quality of his work is probably a touch under-appreciated.

As for Sheens' comments on Ellis, he's kidding himself right? The same Ellis that was voted WT Player of the Year in his very first season with the club took 12 months to find his feet? What does that say about the rest of the team that first year?

While he didn't have any glaring errors or brain explosions, how can anyone be impressed with involvement yesterday or the quality of his work when he did get involved?

Seriously below standard stuff from a guy who was bought for his leadership.

Anyone see Jason Bukuya yesterday?
He plays the exact role we need Blair playing and probably only on 100K rookie but works his butt off and it's quality work too.
Worth two Blairs for mine.
