I would agree with all of that. Personally I would add Elford but that is just my opinion. Management have been promising for the last few seasons to make wholsesale changes. The end of this season is the time. It is time to let youth have a go. If they fail well so be it but at least let them have the chance to fail

cheers

Tim Sheens at this stage .
why ? because he brings a player up and stuffs him about .
He also re hashes players like Beuttner and Senter .Whats wrong with Robbie Farah?
He also thinks Mark Oneil is a ball player .

We are the only side who cannot slow the play the ball down , yet we are also the slowest to play the ball .

Surely the supercoach has to have some game plan for the play the ball.

Senter and Mears will probably head at the end of the year.
O Neill is looking more like a bench player to me.
Beuttner and possibly Graham will be forced into retirement

As for Moodie,Elford,Payten and Miles.I see no reason why any of these guys cannot be of value to us.

I would keep Payten - he is an average player and we need big forwards.

The thing is - we lack creativity and we lack size. It doesnt matter who we have unless we get a creative 5.8th - Benji was that player. There's no point trying to recruit in that position anymore.

But I would release everyone else - esp Mark "I run 85 metres sideways" O'Neill

That is gold, and out of all the crap i have ever read on this forum, that would be the most accurate i have ever read.

I`ve been calling for O`Neill to be dropped all season, got constantly bagged for it and now it seems every second person wants him gone! The funny part about it is that I reckon his last couple of games have been better than he was playing in the first half of the year.I just reckon O`Neill and Sattler are too similar, both trying to be ball players. At the start of the year Sattler was definately out performing him,but I feel Satts intensity has dropped immensely over the past month or so and I would go as far as to say that if it came down to one or the other,i`d say O`Neill is giving us a lot more value than Satts at the moment!

Someone above me made a good point.
I Dont think we can afford at all to get rid of Payten. We need some people with size who are big. Im even sure with Payten if you just got him tot take it up he would be a great prop.

Another person I dont know whether we can afford to release is Moodie. Sure some people can bag him but if weve lost Covell, Miles (Maybe) and dont sign another winger (theres not many out there) we are left with Pat Richards as our only winger.

On O'Neill - I dont think you can put him on teh bench. You cant have soemoene come off the bench just to make tackles. You need people to come off the bench and bring on a new burst of life.

Team, including players still available, for next year

Brett Hodgson - Best player so far this year
Pat Richards - Big Strong and fast
Benji Marshall - More room less pressure. Come into 5/8 when he fills out
Paul Whatariua - Will be a big rower but in the meantime good hole runner
Scott DONALD - Speed machine who makes very few mistakes
Luke DORN - Great underrated talented who had a blinder for the Roosters when Freddie was out due to SOO and extremely skillful and good defence
Scott Prince - Could interchange with Dorn. Another creative player would lessen the pressure on him
Ben Galea - He's starting to come back into some pretty good form
LUKE WILLIAMSON - Strong defender and hard runner also has some mongrel
CARL WEBB - The mongrel we need
Anthony Laffranchci - Has the ability to become our version of Fitzgibbon
Rob Farah - Good smart player with good defensive ability
John Skandallis - The forward leader without doubt

Reseves
Dene Halatua - Can play wide or in the backrow
Chris Heighington - If he wants to commit long term great if not Harrison
Todd Payten - Has ball skills, big bopper good defender
FRANK PULETUA - Big bopper with good legspeed and defence

Others
Daniel Fitzhenry - Great utility value BUT NOT IN THE HALVES
Ben Reynolds - Was still settling in when injured Very good potential
Dean Collis - Thought he went OK today
Shane Elford - Has been okay but his hands have let him down
Keiran Kerr- Played well as a fill in
Bryce Gibbs - Only young for a front rower but great potential
Bronson Harrison - Give him some game time plays well
Mark O'Neill - Purely back-up. Solid but too slow
Liam Fulton - Very creative with great potential

This is the squad I think we should go with, off the top of my head. No Senter, Miles, Mears, Moodie, Buettner, Wilson, Paterson and possibly O'Neill.

I know others will have different opinions and players I've forgotten but I think its a strong defending and more creative team.

I look forward to the backlash ;-)

Jeez a few losses on the trot and you lot want to kill off everyone and start new again.

Get some faith and pride about your club, don't bail on them when the going gets tough.

Hey unit,

Whose talking about killing off everyone ? :? Sattler's retiring, Senter, Mears, Buettner and O'Neill are getting too old, and we're going to have to bring in new players eventually or are they part of our team till the end of time ? Miles has been disappointing when he's played, Wilson has been terrible and Paterson is all size no vigour.

But hey let's hang onto them and maybe they'll come good next year

These are not wholesale changes for changes sake but changes to move us forward. Unless that's not what you want. Maybe your OK with the current results and playing staff but I'm not and I'd like to see these changes.

Yes the past few results has been bad but don't stick your head up your a*'e and think eveything will be better next year without changes.

And by the way, I have no intention of bailing on them, I've been a Magpie, and then Wests Tigers, fan since probably before you were born but we have to move on to move up.

frank puletua -? you're kidding
it'd be like signing another corey pearson ..

scottie b - mate i've been a magpie - i'm used to losing and the club wasting money on CRAP players ..

in this day and age where we know how much a club can spend, it worries me that all kick arse players are in 4-5 clubs .. then again maybe the boys need to show some pride and heart ..

ah well, another sh1tty weekend ..

I only thought Puletua because he is big and strong which is something we're lacking. Even if we signed him to a 1 year deal with an option (in our favour) with incentives for playing first grade.

I did only list him as a bench player as I think he would offer something positive but if we don't get him I won't be too upset unless he goes elsewhere and kills it.
