apparently in the team to be announced tomorrow i think, immortal bob fulton will miss out on the 5/8th and centre spots and be relegated to the bench.

joey apparently got the 7, but was it ever in doubt?

with langlands, gasnier, meninga and churchill to fit in, clearly there was no spot for bozo

Meninga shouldn't get close to Gasnier and Messenger.

ill be shocked if he misses out.

messenger gets shifted on the wing.

my backs would be : johns and lewis as the halves, meninga and gaznier as the centres, messenger and irvine in the centres. chuchill at f/back

If Fulton isn't in the side then it is a joke.

Watch the 1973 GF as a convincer. The bloke won it on his own.

It's interesting how these things go sometimes. The compition for the 5/8 position in the Bears TOTC pushed Greg Florimo to centre but by the time the Bears were shining in the 90s he was starring in the 5/8 role. And there was alot of discussion about JTs inclusion - he ALMOST made the bench.

Please explain......
Les, Matty or Andrew? Josh or Wally? Reg or Mark? Daniel or Ken?
and who is chuchill?

Are you related to the winger by any chance?

On what grounds?

Mal was a class above!

Exactly. I cant believe some people actually think a midget like Dally Messenger would of been able to mark BIG MAL. I mean just because Dally was the sh*t back in 1908 doesn't mean he would even be able to lay a finger on Mal. No one was doing weights back in 1908, Mal Meninga would of just run over the top of any player in the NSWRL back then. No one man would of been able to tackle him. And a Big Mal in his prime would be much better than any centre in the world today. Mal's the kind of player you can put in any era and he would of been the best centre in the world.

Mal Meninga is without doubt the greatest centre of all time. Think about his longevity. He played rep footy from 1980-1994. He had the power, the speed (in his younger days), the brains and the leadership.

All you old timers out there, ask yourself....Do you really think Dally Messenger or even Reg Gasnier would of been able to stop Big Mal?

Malcolm Meninga should be named CAPTAIN of this team.

Wow. That's quite a statement to suggest that players back in the old days would have got run over by Mal. Back in the day they knew how to cut a player in half with a classic copybook tackle around the legs.

Just because Dally was small doesn't mean he wasn't tough enugh or capable of holding his own against the bigger blokes. Look at fellas like Toovey and Withers.

But thats beside the point because it wouldnt be Messenger or Gasnier vs Meninga. It's not like they'd be facing off at an NFL Combine to see which player has the better physical statistics.

Jerry Rice certainly wasnt the biggest or the fastest. But he was the absolute f**king best there has ever been. Which is why i wont hold it against the like of Dally, Gasnier and Churchill because they aren't perfect physical specimens.

Fact is there have been better judges than you or me who have deemed them some of the greatest of all-time. So i'll take their opinion over someone who, correct me if im wrong, seems to think that because these fellows played before the era of Gyms and 5-days-a-week training sessions means that they are inferior to todays players.

Dont be fooled by the black and white tv and cheesy music whcich made the game sound like a Wizard of Oz stage play whenever you see highlights of the old days. They were tough bastards back then, remember the wars? That and working tough jobs on the farm, down the mine or in the sun throughout the week and then suiting up to play 80 min of footy every week. No pampering bullsh*t. So im quite certain they could hold their own against any of the blokes that have run around over the last 25 years.
