I would do a Mr Bennett coach and JD assistant package. Wayne 2 years & JD assistant.
Followed by a guarantee 2 years coach to JD and Wayne coaching director.

Win win for everybody particularly us members and fans

I'm all for this except, I would only give Bennett 1 yr to fix the issues in the club and then transit to Coach director and let JD take over after 1yr.

So what we should do, by your reasoning, is not try any coach who has not first grade success.

Yeah, that would be crazy...to hire someone who has shown competence at the role you are recruiting them for.

It is looking like Seibold has already agreed to coach Brisbane from 2020. Maybe Brisbane will give JD a year as caretaker?

I am more hoping that Bennett brings him with him (too us) as part of his coaching staff and succeeds him, when he retires.

Jack Gibson, Wayne Bennett, Craig Bellamy, Des Hasler, Michael Maguire, Tent Robinson ,Paul Green all have something in common, besides all of them winning premierships they too were ROOKIE coaches at one point, i would take JD in a heart beat over Mary "lets blame someone else" McGregor.. f**k look at Seibold he looks like he can coach, give JD a chance and he will prove that he can coach..
We need to piss off Mary, Hornby, Young, Head and get OUTSIDERS IN to freshen the place up with new ideas/tactics etc...

JD should've been given his opportunity when he was here. Instead, they kept mary. I think it's safe to say JD wouldn't have been any worse.

The problem now is we've had rookie coaches since 2012, and all have been unsuccessful and widely criticized. We are now forced to look at an experienced, successful coach to get us out of the mess we are in.

What I can't work out is the level of extremes this club chooses. We aimed for Bennett, got him, and then got Price on Bennett's recommendation. History shows this was a bad choice, but wasn't at the time.

We sacked price and mary took over as care-taker coach. We then aimed for Bellamy and Bennett, missed out on both but the latter only because of a last ditch call from f@#$ing L Murdoch. So we tried for the best two available, missed out, and thought mary was the third choice? Seriously?

I was out with JD's parents a couple of months back. They were quite open about why he left you guys, and I know some of you know this already.
Mary did not listen to him at all, didn't want him to have any input whatsoever.

Your supposed to be a fan, remembering two short years ago when after a five game losing streak we beat the old enemy the Sharks at Kogarah shortly before they went on to win the title should not be that hard.
