I think its a tad unfair to assume that haddin would automatically be a bad fieldsman cos he keeps. He is a fit bloke and im sure he would be adequate enough in the field. But then we dont know that do we? As brilliant as that runout was it was a fluke i dont think white ever expected that to hit. But then again he put himself in the position to make the runout but so did the shoddy running of the batsmen.

It would be unfair to suggest Haddin WOULD be a great fieldman at the same time. The World Cup is not the time nor the place to be taking ridiculous gambles, especially when catches win matches. If Haydud gets dropped then White is our best 1st slipper as well.

No, becuase in the West Indies unfortunately with the really short boundaries White will be of more use than Hogg. It is reality but batting scores of 300 are neccessary. Hogg will be of use on the one spinning pitch in the Windies (Antigua?), that is it. White's superior batting and fielding place him ahead of Hogg. Selectors agree as well.

White won't bowl at the WC. IMO we still need a spinner for variety because I fear we are going to play on some dead picthes and our quicks are going to get smashed.

White's bowling is getting tonked here in Aus but in the carribean he is going to get smashed.

Borat, why exactly will we need Whit e to bowl?

Lee
Bracken
McGrath
Johnson/Clark
Watson (open with him instead of Haydud)

Then we have Symonds, Clarke, and White to bowl if necessary. The quicker people get it into their heads that White is in there for his late order hitting primarily the quicker we can all make sense!

well said Locky, i read in todays paper that Dene Hills has just been to the West Indies. he had a chat with Andy Roberts, Andy said Australia's ploy with the 4 quicks was the way to go.

He said the wickets would suit the quicks not the spinners. That means Symonds,White and Clarke is more than enough spin options. But take Hogg in case they play on a Bunsen Burner just in case.

Exactly, it is not rocket science. The pitches in the Windies are not going to turn much FFS! Look at who the Windies have as their spinners. They spin it as much as Symonds!

The paki's will only have Malik and Afridi, both batting all rounders. Why play a spinner if the conditions aren't gunna favour them. Especially if you can get away with it.

Exactly, IMO apart from SL,NZ and India are any sides really going to play a specialist spinner? South Africa won't.

Maybe, they haven't decided. They will probally look at the wicket first. If he does play it will be ahead of Clark.

SL - Murali

IND - Harbijhan

NZ - Vettori

Apart from that i can't see a front line spinner picked for any one else, Maybe Monty for England ( they dont have any decent bowlers anyway  ) and the Banger's will pick Rafique, but that about would be it.

To think that Mick Lewis would be the Poms best bowler is a scary thought!
Besides flintoff, Anderson and Monty. but he probably would get a game with them.
