Brad THORN - new bad habits

I am not sure if it was the amera angles  or if it is just a bad habit the big slow kiwi THORN has brought some bad habits with him from union. He has developed a very bad habit of dropping his elbow on opponents head region when flooping over on a tackle. I have noticed it over the last month of bronco games. It wont be too long and he will be getting a holiday on the sidelines.

The elbow massage and grapple tackle seem to be making a glorious comeback in general...
Did anyone notice the Knight's tackling technique?

Nathen Fien, can't seem to tackle a player without the elbow.
Yes, he likes to put a bit of niggle in... lucky not to be penalised on one particular occasion yesterday. Very blatant elbow facial...

Didn't Vossy and the panel on the Sunday Roast insist that this sort of stuff would get 20 weeks minimum in the NRL.

nothing will happen until someone gets badly hurt.
then the offender will get banned 10+ weeks as an example.

minimum bans will never come into place, and impletemnted in the nrl.

The games on Fox atm, and its every tackle he seems to attck the head. Either with an elbow or a "sleeper" hold. Disgracful.

I'm not suggesting they are right, but the hypocrisy is incredible.

They were having a go at AFL for turning a blind eye to this stuff and yet it is rife in the NRL and they have said nothing about it.

Fien is one of the biggest nigglers in the NRL. Great pickup for our club though, he's a little dynamo.

I don't mind big Thorny in general but one thing he has always done that annoys me, is lunge at the marker. You watch every tackle he shoves the marker, its like a big fend as he plays the ball. This isn't new, it was something he did when he was with the broncos last time.

It is sometimes not very effective but sometimes it is quite a shove, I am not a fan of diving, but if Thorn isn't going to be penalised for putting his hand on the marker, then I'd be looking at taking a dive.

Yeah I have noticed this, I'm amazed he hasn't been warned about it.
More often than not, it opens opportunity for a dummy-half run.
There are a couple of other players who do this also, Carl Webb being one of them...

The reason he does it is because it is perfectly legal, I was taught to do that when I was playing.

saw the replay of the dragons broncs game he does it all the time but its not exactly an illegal thing, just niggling, and i play union, dropping the elbows is a send offable offence in that shit sport, u cant do anything with out getting noticed, you grapple tackles u cop it, nothing can touch the head

I remember for a man named smith it was the straw that broke the camels back and he was booted from the NRL, double standards to the extreme.

See 1-2 guys from every damn NRL team who are as guilty as charged with the facial massage in each tackle they make...some things in Rugby League will not change, the extra attention given in a tackle being one of them from a select few players.

Has he been charged with elbowing the head of his opponent? No. He should, and will, continue to play within the laws of the game until he is pulled up by the ref or match review committee.

I agree totally, nothing wrong with some relatively harmless niggle, if you can get away with it :D
